3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr

Holiday Spree!!!

A friend of mine, tired of the never ending holidays in the Philippines sent me this.

=============

Yehey!!!! Another holiday coming up! It sure is fun living here in the Philippines! Where in the world you can live in a country thats full of holidays? There are holidays for religious sectors, Ex-presidents & whatever they can think of!

Well, at first I think of holidays as rest days, a day we spend with out families, love ones and also vacation. But what are the pros & cons behind this spontaneous holiday declarations from GMA? correct me if i'm wrong...

Pros:
1. Boost consumer spending (people like to go strolling around in malls)
2. Boost local tourism like resorts
3. Boost local airline sales, since the average & the rich family would go abroad

Cons:
1. People get lazy (when a person learns another long weekend coming up, they start planning for the vacation)

3:1 ... pros have it .. but the effect of the cons.. for me is kinda huge! Once a person get lazy, it affects a persons performance and mentality!

I have a friend, on January 2009 she already planned her vacation for the rest of the year! Everyone is waiting for the promo's from Cebu pacific or PAL. Well there's nothing bad about resting, taking vacation.. But long weekends per month! C'mon! As if these holidays are meaningful!

We all accept holidays like Independence day, National heroes day, all saints day & etc. But holiday just for some funeral for an Iglesia guy. WHO CARES! WHO IS HE ANYWAY!?!

Birthdays & deaths of ex presidents! how many presidents do we have? Why is it that Cory Aquino is so special? I have nothing against them, but why do we need to celebrate? We all consider them heroes, so what is the national heroes day for? Now there is Muslim day, Ramadan day, Chinese New Year... what's next? Korean day ? Hindu day?

I recall a joke from a text, "if FPJ became president, he will declare 2 weeks holiday on December, FILMFEST HOLIDAY!! All people must go watch local movies!"

But seriously this long weekend isn't good for us, it's unproductive. People say we Filipinos are lazy, would we want this image to really come true?

Think productive! Not looking forward for holidays.
