He even went on to say that the country has so much problem like the 3 drug mules and corruption, why people would even worry about a little thing like Jan-Jan's dance.
He even had Jan-Jan's parents come to the show to explain their side.

1-Foot-10-Inch Filipino Teen Soon May Be Named World's Shortest Man Ever

Thoughts On The Willing Willie Show With 6 Year Old Jan-Jan
11:03 AM
Filed Under: child abuse, Willie Revillame, Willing Willie |2 commentsI've been thinking a lot about the Willing Willie show where 6 year old Jan-Jan was made to dance like a male stripper.
To be honest, I don't expect much from a show with Willie Revillame, all his shows are just about throwing money around degrading people. Fine, if people are willing and able to make a decision themselves to do that, that's fine with me. But subjecting a 6 year old boy with obviously no choice in the matter is a new low.
And the fact that the boy was crying while dancing did not even register to anyone on the show that maybe they should put a stop to it? Willie even said that the boy was crying was like the movie "Burlesque Queen" where the star was dancing and crying because she did not have a choice in the matter and will do anything to feed her family.
Wasn't that already a queue that maybe it was exploitation?
What I find to be truly horrific is the lack of response from the sponsors. These shows do not exist without sponsors. Do these sponsors actually want their products to be linked to child abuse and child exploitation?
I'm told that Wiling Willie show is allegedly sponsored by the following:
P&G's Head & Shoulders
UFC Cook & Dip Catsup
Oishi Cookies
Smart C Drinks
Jollibee's Mang Inasal
Unilever's Rexona
Pepsodent
Vaseline
Surf Liquid Detergent
Glutamax Face Cream
Pau Liniment
Yakult
CDO Funtastyk Young Pork Tocino
Technomarine
Will Tower Mall
Daily Spell fragrance
Wil Cologne
Protec-Cee
Foton Automobile
Manny Villar's Camella Homes
Cebuana Lhuiller
The show happened on March 12, 2011. It's March 28, 2011 and we haven't heard any uproar from his sponsors. So why aren't these sponsors complaining about the show? Oh right, because they make so much money from it!
As always, Willie Revillame will escape unscathed from this. He will never change. He even has an explanation on his website about the episode saying that the boy cried because he was intimidated of 6'9" basketball player Bonel Balingit that stood beside the boy during the show.
Yeah right.
If he's never going to change, how about we pressure his sponsors instead?
No sponsor, no show. Simple as that.
Here's the show again to get your blood boiling. See who the sponsors are behind the boy.

DSWD Sec. Dinky Soliman writes to MVP Re: Child Abuse in Willieng Willie

MR. MANNY V. PANGILINAN
Chairman
ABC Development Corporation
Dear Mr. Pangilinan:
This is with regard to the 12 March 2011 episode of your show “Willing Willie”, which was brought to my attention by several concerned citizens and groups. In the said episode, a six year-old boy named Jan-Jan Estrada was made to repeatedly perform dance moves usually done by adult dancers in indecent shows. The poor child was in tears and looked scared the entire time, as show host Willie Revillame poked fun at him and the audience laughed and cheered.
Under Republic Act No.7610, also known as “Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act”, the term “child abuse” includes the following acts: “psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment,” and “any act by deeds or words which debases, degrades or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of the child as a human being.”
Given that definition, it is unmistakable that what happened last 12 March 2011 to Jan-Jan Estrada was child abuse.
Persuading a little child to dance sexy adult dances in exchange for a measly sum, while he is being laughed at and ridiculed will definitely traumatize the child. What kind of values are we teaching our children through these shows, especially after Willie Revillame pushed Jan-Jan to do something against his will and then told him that it’s alright because he will receive money in exchange for it?
Given the foregoing, I am requesting that:
(1) Young children not be allowed to appear in Willing Willie and other similar shows in the network that cashes in on poverty;
(2) Host Willie Revillame be rebuked for his insensitive and deplorable actions.
There are limits to children appearing on television, and clearly, your 12 March 2011 episode did not respect the rights of the child and traumatized the six year-old boy. I also wish to raise my concern that the show tends to cash in on the plight of the poor. There are other ways of helping the poor without having to degrade their dignity and earn money out of it.
I hope you can act on this swiftly and I would appreciate a response from your good office.
Thank you.
Very truly yours,
(sgd.)

6 Year Old Jan-Jan Macho Dance on Willie Revillame's Show
12:56 AM
Filed Under: child abuse, Jan-Jan, Willie Revillame |0 commentsI saw this video of 6 year old Jan-Jan on Willie Revillame's show Willing Willie. The boy was dancing like a "Macho Dancer" (male stripper). To be honest, I had to pause it several times because I cannot for the life of me watch this young boy do what just did.
First of all, this boy's parents should be shot. I'm sorry, I do not normally swear on my post, but what the fuck were these people thinking? Who in their right minds would teach a 6 year old boy to macho dance? And why would they even subject this boy to this kind of embarrassment?
Secondly, why did Willie Revillame or his producers even let this boy do what he just did? Did you even see Jan-Jan's face as he was dancing? He was crying! And his aunt was even happy about it? I mean, I can understand about the need for the money, but no amount of money is worth destroying your dignity.
You may think it's funny because it's just a young boy and he may eventually forget about it. But how would anyone one? This is bordering on abuse and Willie Revillame, if he had any heart or conscience should have stopped it right away and not make fun of the boy.
Not only did he make fun of the boy, he pretty much exploited him for the show. Jan-Jan is crying every single time he had to do that dance so don't tell me he doesn't know what he's doing. I think he's smart enough to know what they were asking him to do but had no choice in the matter so he just cried every time the music played.
Fucking pathetic excuse for a show.
*Note: The original video was removed so I posted this one which included the original video and an apology from Willie.

Elizabeth Taylor Dies at 79
10:04 AM
Filed Under: Elizabeth Taylor, Hollywood |0 commentsLOS ANGELES – Elizabeth Taylor, the violet-eyed film goddess whose sultry screen persona, stormy personal life and enduring fame and glamour made her one of the last of the classic movie stars and a template for the modern celebrity, died Wednesday at age 79.
She was surrounded by her four children when she died of congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she had been hospitalized for about six weeks, said publicist Sally Morrison.
"My Mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love," her son, Michael Wilding, said in a statement.
"We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts."
"We have just lost a Hollywood giant," said Elton John, a longtime friend of Taylor. "More importantly, we have lost an incredible human being."
Taylor was the most blessed and cursed of actresses, the toughest and the most vulnerable. She had extraordinary grace, wealth and voluptuous beauty, and won three Academy Awards, including a special one for her humanitarian work. She was the most loyal of friends and a defender of gays in Hollywood when AIDS was new to the industry and beyond. But she was afflicted by ill health, failed romances (eight marriages, seven husbands) and personal tragedy.

Hicks ruled the defamation suit can proceed because there is sufficient evidence of malicious acts in accusing Pacquiao of being a dope cheat.

It will pass between earth and the sun later this year. Is it a comet? or a brown dwarf?
Here's the date from NASA tracking Comet Elenin.
Some say this is not a comet, but actually Nibiru or the twelfth planet or Planet X. It has a highly elliptical orbit around the sun and takes it out way beyond Pluto. It is said that Nibiru takes 3,600 years to complete one orbit and was said to be last seen around 160 BC. Some speculates that Nibiru could actually be the Star of Bethlehem which was seen 2000 years ago.

In a press conference late Thursday, BSP Deputy Gov. Nestor Espenilla Jr. said the central bank's seven-man Monetary Board decided to place Banco Filipino under the receivership of PDIC since it was no longer paying its liabilities in the ordinary course of business.
"Banco Filipino cannot continue in business without involving probable losses to its depositors and creditors," Espenilla told reporters at the central bank.

Banco Filipino has insufficient realizable assets to meet its liabilities since its net realizable value reached P8.4 billion, or its liabilities overwhelming its assets, Espenilla said.

Don’t fall for ‘radiation’ hoax, brush up on geography
Tuesday, March 15, 2011 2:33 PM
Filed Under: hoax, Japan Earthquake, Nuclear Radiation, philippine daily inquirer, Radiation |0 commentsFrom the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
MANILA, Philippines—Better brush up on geography to prevent getting fooled by hoax text messages and information amid the radiation alert in Japan, the country’s chief volcanologist said Tuesday.
“It is important for us to go back to what we've learned in Araling Panlipunan, particularly geography so that we won't be alarmed by such text messages and we can avoid the unnecessary worry,” said Renato Solidum Jr., head of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
He said the tsunami alert the Phivolcs raised on the eastern coast of the country following the powerful quake and tsunami that ravaged Japan on Friday, also caused residents in the Philippines' western region to suffer needless panic attacks.
Fear also gripped some parts of the country on Monday following false reports that radioactive fallout from crippled nuclear plants in Japan would reach the Philippines.
The rumors, which circulated through text messages, sent people home from school and work and drove a number of them to buy Betadine in the false belief that it would protect them from radioactive particles blowing from Japan.
The text messages spread even as officials and experts repeatedly announced that the prevailing wind was blowing northeast toward the Pacific Ocean and would not reach the country.
Solidum requested the media to incorporate a little background on geography whenever they broadcast reports about the effects of the nuclear power crisis on the quake-ravaged northeastern coast of Japan.
"We need to educate them so when you present news, give them a little bit of a background because there are a lot of people panicking even if they don't have to," he said at a forum hosted by the Catholic Media Network in Intramuros, Manila.
Even Justice Secretary Leila de Lima almost fell for the hoax text message warning that a nuclear fallout would affect the Philippines.
De Lima said a simple check with the BBC news channel showed that the supposed “news flash” from the British broadcaster was untrue.
However, not all Filipinos have access to cable television, De Lima pointed out.
De Lima at a press conference joked that she almost asked someone to buy Betadine as well, as instructed by the text message.
With the near-panic generated by fake warnings, she said she was inclined to “propose” that the authorities track down its source.
De Lima said the source of the message should be held accountable especially if he or she sent it out “in bad faith.”
“Because these are scary times with these disasters happening, we don't want to exacerbate the situation by those unfounded news,” she said.
The justice secretary has a standing order to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to track down sources of prank text messages warning of bombings.
De Lima said the pseudo warnings on the effects of a nuclear fallout in the country were covered by her directive.
While it is a challenge to identify the sources of text messages, the NBI has equipment that could do it although these are not as sophisticated as what's on the hit US television detective show “CSI.”
De Lima said that those accountable for the prank messages could be charged with crimes against public order.
She noted a lot of people fall for the fake warnings because “the way it was presented, it's believable.”
The only people who benefited from this text hoax is the drug companies.

A tightly integrated system between Max/MSP, Google Earth and Symbolic Sound’s Kyma processes earthquake data that is translated into sound synthesis parameters. A USGS XML feed is parsed into numerous fields including magnitude, elevation, time of day and geographical coordinates. These data are mapped to synthetic spectrums and processed by granular, aggregate and subtractive synthesis.

Japan's quake updated to magnitude 9.0
Friday, March 11, 2011 1:10 PM
Filed Under: japan, Japan Earthquake, tsunami |0 commentsFrom New Scientist.
Seismologists at the US Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California, have just revised their calculations regarding the magnitude of today's quake. They now say it was magnitude 9.0. Already one of the top 10 recorded earthquakes in history, the revision suggests the quake was even more powerful than first thought.
Harold Tobin of the University of Wisconsin-Madison told New Scientist that this figure will probably change again. This is typical in the hours after a large seismic event, as more information becomes available.
Earlier today, it was suggested that the tremor may have occurred along a splay fault - a branch off the main megathrust fault which runs through this area of the Japan trench. If so, that could mean the fault was previously unknown to geologists.
Splay faults tend to break at steeper angles than megathrust quakes, making them highly likely to lead to a large uplift of the seafloor that produces damaging tsunamis such as the one that crashed ashore in Sendai and the Honshu coast earlier today.
But the new set of calculations indicate that the giant quake ruptured at an angle of 14 degrees below horizontal. Such a shallow slip suggests the earthquake did in fact occur along the main megathrust fault.
Tobin said that in the next few days, seismologists will be working feverishly to come up with a new set of calculations known as an "inversion" to determine over what area the fault slipped and how great the slip was. It's likely to have been several metres for an earthquake of this magnitude.
Once that's established, geologists will begin to look at how this earthquake may have transferred stress onto - or away from - faults in the Tokyo bay and Nankai trough regions, to the south-west.
This will help get a handle on the big question that will be on everyone's mind: when, and where, will it happen again?

No, the “supermoon” didn’t cause the Japanese earthquake
11:29 AM
Filed Under: supermoon |0 commentsJapan suffered a massive earthquake last night, measuring nearly magnitude 9. This is one of the largest quakes in its history, causing widespread and severe damage. Before I say anything else, I’m greatly saddened by the loss of life in Japan, and I’ll be donating to disaster relief organizations to help them get in there and do what they can to give aid to those in need.
While there isn’t much I can do to directly help the situation in Japan, I do hope I can help mitigate the panic and worry that can happen due to people blaming this earthquake on the so-called "supermoon" — a date when the Moon is especially close to the Earth at the same time it’s full. So let me be extremely clear:
Despite what a lot of people are saying, there is no way this earthquake was caused by the Moon.

Latest Updates on the 8.9 Magnitude Earthquake in Japan
10:04 AM
Filed Under: japan, Japan Earthquake, tsunami |0 commentsHere are the latest updates on the 8.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan on March 11, 2011. The earthquake is reported to be the 5th largest in recorded history.
Here's a video of Japan's Sendai airport completely under water due to the tsunami that hit it after the earthquake.
Here's a video from Al Jazeera TV on the Japan earthquake with tsunami washing away cars and buildings.
Here's a video showing the tsunami battering ship, homes and cars.
Here's a report from Russia Today showing oil refineries in Japan on fire due to the earthquake.
Here are several videos from the BBC on the Japan Earthquake. One is showing a gigantic whirlpool created by the earthquake.
Here are the latest hi-res photos of the earthquake from The Big Picture at Boston.com.

Tsunami warning were put up across the entire Pacific Rim including the U.S. West Coast and Canada.
A few hours later, a tsunami hit Hawaii but did not cause major damage.
From Metro News.
Police said 200 to 300 bodies were found in the northeastern coastal city of Sendai, the city in Miyagi prefecture, or state, closest to the epicenter. Another 137 were confirmed killed, with 531 people missing. Police also said 627 people were injured.
The magnitude-8.9 offshore quake unleashed a 23-foot (seven-meter) tsunami and was followed for hours by more than 50 aftershocks, many of them of more than magnitude 6.0.
Here's an advisory from FEMA on what to do before and during a tsunami.
The following are guidelines for what you should do if a tsunami is likely in your area:
* Turn on your radio to learn if there is a tsunami warning if an earthquake occurs and you are in a coastal area.
* Move inland to higher ground immediately and stay there.
* Stay away from the beach. Never go down to the beach to watch a tsunami come in. If you can see the wave you are too close to escape it.
* CAUTION - If there is noticeable recession in water away from the shoreline this is nature's tsunami warning and it should be heeded. You should move away immediately.
Will March 19 'Supermoon' Trigger Natural Disasters?
1:47 AM
Filed Under: disaster, news, supermoon |1 commentsOn March 19, the moon will swing around Earth more closely than it has in the past 18 years, lighting up the night sky from just 221,567 miles (356,577 kilometers) away. On top of that, it will be full. And one astrologer believes it could inflict massive damage on the planet.
Richard Nolle, a noted astrologer who runs the website astropro.com, has famously termed the upcoming full moon at lunar perigee (the closest approach during its orbit) an "extreme supermoon."
When the moon goes super-extreme, Nolle says, chaos will ensue: Huge storms, earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural disasters can be expected to wreak havoc on Earth. (It should be noted that astrology is not a real science, but merely makes connections between astronomical and mystical events.)

EVALUATION
A TSUNAMI HAS BEEN GENERATED THAT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE ALONG COASTLINES OF ALL ISLANDS IN THE STATE OF HAWAII. URGENT ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT LIVES AND PROPERTY.
A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF LONG OCEAN WAVES. EACH INDIVIDUAL WAVE CREST CAN LAST 5 TO 15 MINUTES OR MORE AND EXTENSIVELY FLOOD COASTAL AREAS. THE DANGER CAN CONTINUE FOR MANY HOURS AFTER THE INITIAL WAVE AS SUBSEQUENT WAVES ARRIVE. TSUNAMI WAVE HEIGHTS CANNOT BE PREDICTED AND THE FIRST WAVE MAY NOT BE THE LARGEST.
TSUNAMI WAVES EFFICIENTLY WRAP AROUND ISLANDS. ALL SHORES ARE AT RISK NO MATTER WHICH DIRECTION THEY FACE. THE TROUGH OF A TSUNAMI WAVE MAY TEMPORARILY EXPOSE THE SEAFLOOR BUT THE AREA WILL QUICKLY FLOOD AGAIN. EXTREMELY STRONG AND UNUSUAL NEARSHORE CURRENTS CAN ACCOMPANY A TSUNAMI. DEBRIS PICKED UP AND CARRIED BY A TSUNAMI AMPLIFIES ITS DESTRUCTIVE POWER. SIMULTANEOUS HIGH TIDES OR HIGH SURF CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE TSUNAMI HAZARD.
THE ESTIMATED ARRIVAL TIME IN HAWAII OF THE FIRST TSUNAMI WAVE IS
0307 AM HST FRI 11 MAR 2011
MESSAGES WILL BE ISSUED HOURLY OR SOONER AS CONDITIONS WARRANT.

That is culture

Filed Under: corruption, culture, philippine daily inquirer, Philippines |0 commentsThis is a great article by Conrado De Quiros in the Philippine Daily Inquirer about our culture of corruption.
I READ an interesting story last weekend. In Japan, a 19-year-old was arrested in a case that has become a media sensation, producing all sorts of editorials on the subject. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison and a fine of $6,000.
His crime? Cheating in college entrance exams.
The kid was caught using his cell phone to access the Internet to get answers to questions mainly involving Math problems and translating passages from Japanese to English. Someone saw the site postings, noted that the dates coincided with the exam days, and notified the university, triggering an investigation. The kid readily confessed to the wrongdoing.
An investigation is underway to see if this was merely an isolated incident or had been done by others. “It’s not a mere cheating case,” Mainichi said in an editorial. “The impact of the wrongful use of the Internet, capable of massively spreading information instantly, is huge.” The opinions have tried to gauge the implications of the crime and the severity of the punishment.
None has asked if what the kid did is a crime. It is a given.
That is culture. To appreciate the richness of it, all we have to do is compare it with similar incidents in this country.

Apple iPad 2
Wednesday, March 02, 2011 12:19 PM
Filed Under: Apple, Apple iPad |0 commentsThe new Apple iPad 2 looks amazing. If you think other tablet makers are offering better solutions, the new iPad 2 trumps them all over again.
Here are the specs.
- Dual core A5 chip
- HD (720p)Back camera
- VGA front camera
- Wifi
- Bluetooth
- 3G
- GSM
- CDMA
- 10 hour battery
- Gyroscope
- Digital compass
- GPS
- HMDI out to display on your HD TV via optional cable, supports any orientation
- Accelerometer
- Facetime
- Photo Booth
The specs are not the only reason why the new iPad 2 is great. It's 1/3rd thinner than the iPad 1 and it's lighter as well.
What I really like about the new iPad 2 is actually what Apple calls the Smart Cover. It's completely magnetic and just attaches to the iPad 2 quite nicely.
By the way, it comes in white.

Pagpag: Survival food for the poorest of the poor
Tuesday, March 01, 2011 12:52 PM
Filed Under: Philippines, poverty |0 commentsFrom Philippine Online Chronicles.
Have you ever wondered whatever happened to the left-over food you did not finish in fast food restaurants? You may think they would have been thrown away and discarded for good. For sure they are headed to the trash bin after people leave them on the table. But what happens next is something you ought to know. The morsels of unfinished Chicken Joy in Jollibee or the left-over spaghetti in McDonald’s might yet save a family from hunger.
The leftover food stuffs are thrown in a large black plastic bag and collected by a garbage truck. The truck travels towards a garbage dumpsite, either in Payatas in Quezon City or Smokey Mountain in Tondo, Manila. After the truck has dumped the trash in these garbage sites, the leftovers begin to change its nature: from trash to food. Scavengers would swarm on these morsels like they were gadflies, sometimes even fighting over them.. The food we consider trash becomes for them sustenance.
You may think that it is cruel and inhuman to let people eat food thrown away by others. But that’s the way it is in the poorest slums of Metro Manila. Whatever that can be eaten will be eaten. It is the law of nature. It may be harsh but it is the reality. After all, who cares?
These food discards are called pagpag, an ukay-ukay term that has taken a new meaning. Pagpag in this context is to shake away the dirt and maggots in the food. The scavengers would smell the food to determine if it is still good or has started to spoil. If it still smells fine, more or less, then they will eat it right there in the dumpsite. Bringing it home may spoil it some more. Time is of the essence. Hence when a truck unloads some "fresh pagpag" in the dumpsite, an instant feast takes place. The scavengers do not mind the malevolent stench of the garbage that surrounds them while eating.
