3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr

Inaugural Speech of President Benigno C. Aquino III

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer . ====================== His Excellency Jose Ramos Horta, Former President Fidel V. Ramos, Former President Joseph Estrada, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and members of the Senate, House Speaker Prospero Nograles and members of the House, justices of the Supreme Court, members of the foreign delegations,Your Excellencies of the diplomatic corps, fellow colleagues in government, aking mga kababayan.

St. Luke's Medical Center at The Fort

Image
Got this e-mail about St. Luke's Medical Center at The Fort. I didn't realize how nice it was. Nice is actually an understatement. It's more like a 5 star hotel! Of course, it would be expensive to be treated there. But if you want to be treated or to die in paradise, you have to pay for it. Sucks to be poor but that's the reality anywhere you are in the world. ================= This is the new St. Luke's Medical Center (not hotel) located at the Fort Bonifacio Center aka “The Fort” in Makati. It is truly awesome! If you don't die from your illness, you will surely die when they pass you the bill! So far the best in Manila. Lobby? No, this isn’t NAIA. Jaw dropping art piece Nice posh waiting room. The view from the room. This isn’t Shangri-La. The dining room. They’ve a lazy boy too! And Wi-Fi. And a Jacuzzi. And a Counter-mount sink and glass partition. The hospital bed. The new St. Luke's hospital at the Fort. Beautiful! The price of staying here is als

A Letter From A Brave Filipino

Got this from an e-mail. If only... ======================== To all Filipinos Everywhere: I used to think that corruption and criminality in the Philippines were caused by poverty. But recent events tell me this isn't true. It is one thing to see people turn into drug addicts, prostitutes, thieves and murderers because of hunger and poverty, but what excuse do these rich, educated people have that could possibly explain their bizarre behavior? And to think I was always so relieved when petty snatchers got caught and locked away in jail because I never fully realized that the big time thieves were out there, making the laws and running our country. Every night, I come home & see these "honorable" crooks lambast each other on TV , call each one names, look each other in the eye and accuse the other of committing the very same crimes that they themselves are guilty of, is so comical and apalling that I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I have never see

What You Never Knew Your Cellphone Can Do

EMERGENCY The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112 If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you. And interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.** Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cellphone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other"remote" for your car, you can unlo

It’s Aquino-Binay

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer . MANILA, Philippines—It’s official. It’s final. As widely expected, Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III of the Liberal Party won the presidential election by a landslide, results of the final tabulation by Congress show. (See tally) Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay of PDP-Laban defeated Sen. Manuel Roxas II, ending the cliffhanger in the vice presidential race. Aquino and Binay are scheduled to be proclaimed Wednesday at the Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City. A 50-year-old bachelor and economics graduate, Aquino will officially become the country’s 15th president on June 30. He will replace President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who ran and won a House seat after a turbulent nine-year rule. Aquino’s victory reflected the public’s longing to fill a moral vacuum in a country plagued by corruption, poverty and violence. For many voters, it’s been nearly a quarter century of disappointment since his mother President Cory Aquino helped restore democracy in the

iPhone 4

Image
The new iPhone 4 has been announced today at Apple's WWDC conference. New features includes Retina display which quadruples the pixel count of previous iPhones making images and text sharper. Multitasking is finally available. Perhaps the most interesting feature for me is the new 5 megapixel camera. I know a 5 megapixel camera on a phone is not new. But Apple is usually behind in terms of integrating new technology into their devices. What Apple does is they do it better. The new camera has backside illumination that takes better pictures even in low light. The problem with most camera phones is that the sensors are so small, low light quality usually sucks. I haven't seen how the iPhone 4 camera works yet, but it would be interesting to see if it really does work really well. That means there's no need to bring a point and shoot camera anymore if you have the iPhone. The iPhone 4 also includes a LED flash and a forward facing camera. The camera also takes 720p HD video ca

The Man Rules

-The Man Rules- At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down.. Finally , the guys' side of the story.. ( I must admit, it's pretty good.) We always hear "the rules from the female side". Now here are the rules from the male side. These are our rules! Please note.. these are all numbered "1" ON PURPOSE! 1. Men are NOT mind readers. 1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down. 1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be. 1. Crying is blackmail. 1. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one: Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it! 1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question. 1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That’s what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends a
