3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem.

This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution?

Punitive Fines
First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law.
The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registration. They cannot renew their d…

J. Lo’s Manila concert date confirmed; Jessica Sanchez may be front act

From InterAksyon
Photo credits The same concert promoter that brought Justin Bieber to Manila last year is bringing Jennifer Lopez to the Philippines in late November, with possibly Jessica Sanchez in tow.

Jun Lorenz Mamangon, CEO of N91 Live Productions, has confirmed that the “American Idol” judge will perform in Manila on November 24, most likely at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Mamangon said he is also in talks to bring in “American Idol” runner-up Jessica Sanchez as Lopez’s front act.

Lopez is set to co-headline the “Dance Again” world tour with Spanish-Filipino artist Enrique Iglesias, which will kick off on July 14 in Montreal, Canada.

Lopez, who was recently named most powerful celebrity in the world by Forbes Magazine, is known for her upbeat pop songs and dancing prowess. Her signature hits include “On The Floor”, “Jenny from The Block”, and “Waiting for Tonight”.

Mamangon said Iglesias may not be a part of the Philippine tour.

Senate votes 20-3 Chief Justice Corona Guilty

MANILA, Philippines - The Senate impeachment court has voted 20-3 to find Chief Justice Renato Corona guilty of culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust.

I wonder, did Corona's challenge to the senators and congressmen to show their SALN before he show his and walk out contributed to his conviction?

After watching the prosecution bungle the trial, I can't help but wonder they they still won. I'm not a big fan of Corona, I think he's as guilty as anyone. But you can't help but think that the judgement has already been predetermined.

Here are some reactions and some of the statements by the senators and congressmen.

Apo Hiking Society - Saan Na Nga Ba'ng Barkada

I love this song by the Apo Hiking Society. I wish they played this on our high school graduation instead of High School Life by Sharon Cuneta, it would have been more meaningful.

Here's the studio version.

Tears for Fears - Woman in Chains

This is probably one of the best songs by Tears for Fears. The shared vocals with Oleta Adams makes the song feel like it reaches into your soul.

Woman in chains came out in 1989 as a second single from their album "The Seeds of Love".

Edie Brickell - Good Times

Anyone remember this on their Windows 95 CD? I still love this song.

Video That Proves Raymart Santiago Was The First To Hit Tulfo

Remember that fight between Raymart Santiago and Ramon Tulfo where Raymart said that Ramon Tulfo started the fight and that Claudine claims that Tulfo kicked her on her thigh and pushed her hardly towards the counter.

Well, I found this video that may prove otherwise. It shows Raymart hit (binatukan) Ramon Tulfo first.

Jennifer Holliday and Jessica Sanchez Duet On American Idol

Too bad Jessica Sanchez lost, but as this one article mentioned, they opted to vote for the WGWG again.

Of course that's one of the controversy as to why Jessica Sanchez did not win American Idol. But perhaps this will help ease the pain.
Here is Jessica Sanchez performing "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" with Grammy winner Jennifer Holliday at the Season 11 Finale which really brought the house down.

Of course, being Pinoy, there's going to be a joke about the performance.

CJ Corona Signs Waiver and Walks Out Of Impeachment Trial

CJ Corona, after delivering his opening statement, walks out of the impeachment trial even before he was discharged.

He said he will sign his waiver to disclose all his Peso and foreign currency account from all banks on the condition that all 188 complainants in the prosecution to disclose their SALN as well including Senator Franklin Drillon. If they will not sign, he will not sign his waiver. It's getting interesting this circus show isn't it?

Protest Against Lady Gaga Concert In the Philippines

I just saw this photo about some people protesting against Lady Gaga's concert in Manila. They are saying that Lady Gaga is a bad influence and her song Judas is considered obscene.
I also saw this article from Filipino Freethinkers on how Bible Youth Philippines is calling the concert blasphemous and wants it cancelled. Their leader, former congressman Benny Abante threatened to file a lawsuit if she sings "Judas". Even former Manila Mayor Jose Atienza agrees.

It's unfortunate that in this day and age, we still have fanatic idiots who don't know the difference between artistic expression and devil worship.

It's no different than some people calling to stop the selling of Diablo 3.

Smile! Filipinos get chance to win P250,000

From the Inquirer.

MANILA, Philippines – That smile could win you P250,000.

Teachers, school officials and other personnel should start the school year with a smile to encourage a happy atmosphere in the classroom, the Department of Education (DepEd) has said.

The DepEd has partnered with Cebuana Lhuiller Insurance Solutions to encourage school participation in the happiness initiative called Wear A Smile Campaign, an effort to find the “Happiest Pinoy” and encourage the rest of the nation to be happy every day.

“To start the school year in high spirits, all school personnel are encouraged to be in a positive disposition and to wear a smile when they report for the opening of classes on June 4 and the days that follow,” said Education Secretary Armin Luistro.

In a memorandum, Luistro enjoined DepEd regional directors, division chiefs and the heads of public and private elementary schools to “ensure the success of the campaign.”

The DepEd will conduct the search for the Happiest Pinoy a…

Manny Pacquiao Preaching The Gospel

Here's a video of Manny Pacquia preaching the gospel. It's probably one of the things that Bob Arum was talking about when he said he was concerned about Manny's mental state.

Bob Arum Worried About Manny Pacquiao's Mental State: Fan Reaction

From Yahoo! Sports.

Given the multiple problems WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has had to deal with ever since his November victory against Juan Manuel Marquez (backlash after the controversial decision, legal problems in the Philippines, and few problems with his camp), many boxing fans are worried about his mental state going into his June 9 bout against undefeated Timothy Bradley.

Even Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, is concerned about the WBO welterweight champs' current mental state, and he shared his thoughts during the premier episode of HBO's "The Fight Game with Jim Lampley."

"Bradley is a terrific fighter," Arum said. "He's undefeated. He poses a tremendous challenge for Manny Pacquiao. And my problem is what Pacquiao are we going to see? You have to understand, since the last fight last November, he has become a totally different person. He's super religious. He does bible study every night. Sometimes I get the impressio…

Ferdinand Marcos's Message to Cory Aquino

I found this here. Don't know if this is true, but it is interesting.

Open letter to Aquino

Reposting this from an article in the Inquirer.

I respectfully write to you, Mr. President, as a Filipino frustrated that a certain neighbor has been acting like a bully, with us on the receiving end. Aside from its incursions into our territory, the people of that country have been capturing our endangered wildlife, in violation of national and international law. If only for that, we need to take action.

When we try to confront this bully, it displays its overwhelming military might. It cannot even keep its word on easing tensions. While we may not have the military hardware to overcome our shame and punish that country for its impunity and duplicity, let us not forget that we have the moral might to make things right.

We must initiate legal action which, after all, is nothing more than a continuation of diplomacy. Actions may be available in the International Court of Justice, the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea…

Smart Filipino Boy

Got this here.

A Filipino boy was very sad in class.

The teacher asked, “KULITS what is your problem?”

KULITS answered, “I’m too smart for the first-grade. My sister is in the third-grade and I’m smarter than she is! I think I should be in the third-grade too!”

Teacher had enough. She took KULITS to the principal’s office. While KULITS waited in the outer office, the teacher explained to the
principal what the situation was. The principal told the teacher he would give the boy a test and if he failed to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the first-grade and behave.

She agreed.

KULITS was brought in and the conditions were explained to him and he agreed to take the test.

Principal: What is 3 x 3?

KULITS: 9, maam!

Principal: What is 6 x 6?

KULITS: 36, maam!

And so it went with every question the principal thought a third-grade should know.
The principal looks at teacher and tells her, “I think KULITS can go to the third-grade. ”

Teacher says to the principal, “I have some …

Ipagdasal mo na lamang huwag tayong magkrus ng landas," he said.

5kg Weight Loss Program

Got this here.
A guy calls the company and orders their 5 day - 5kg weight loss program.

The next day, there's a knock on the door and standing before him a voluptuous, athletic, 21 year old babe from J.C. dressed in nothing but a G-string and a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck. The sign reads, 'If you can catch me, you can have me.'

Without a second thought, he takes off after her.

A few miles later huffing and puffing, he finally gives up.

The same girl shows up the next four days and the same thing happens.

On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 5kgs as promised.

He calls the company and orders their 5day - 10kg program.

PagPag Manila Poor & Children Eat Garbage

Found this video on Youtube about "Pagpag" as it was featured on CNN. The description on Youtube blames PNoy. I'm not a supporter of PNoy or any administration. In fact, I'm not a supporter of any politicians as I think they're all crap. But this "pagpag" existed even before PNoy's time. I was happening during GMA's time and probably even before Cory Aquino's time.

The problem is, the poor gets poorer and the rich gets richer in the Philippines because of complete incompetency and massive corruption by all levels of government.

The only thing that will solve the poverty problem is to have a growing economy that benefits everyone and an education system to will elevate the future of these children.

'Avengers' on track to become biggest film in PH

From ABS-CBN News.
MANILA, Philippines – In just five days, “The Avengers” has become the highest grossing film in the country this year.

According to the latest data from Box Office Mojo released on Wednesday, the superhero movie earned an estimated $6,580,876 or around P277.38 million from April 25 to 29.

This is a little lower than the estimated P281-million opening gross nationwide given by Victor R. Cabrera, managing director of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Philippines.

“It’s practically a box office tsunami that has so far drowned, wiped out and rewritten every local record in its first five days of play,” Cabrera said in a statement.

Prior to “The Avengers,” this year’s biggest box office hit has been Star Cinema’s “Unofficially Yours.” The John Lloyd Cruz-Angel Locsin romantic comedy grossed $3,704,457 or roughly P156 million during its run.

According to Cabrera, “The Avengers” now holds the record for highest opening weekend, previously set by “Spider-Man 3” which opene…
