Motorycycle Race Goes Electric

This is amazing news, the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) has decided to create a FIM Series for electric bikes in 2010.

As you may or may not know, racing is what spurs development in automobiles. This race if successful will create a lot of new technology in electric motorcycle development.

They haven't gotten around to creating one for cars yet, but some race cars are going hybrid like the one from Corsa Motorsports.

Dave Despain, the host of SpeedTV’s Wind Tunnel, recently proposed that the Indianapolis 500 draft new rules allowing racers just 10 gallons of fuel. He is hoping this will spur the development of more fuel efficient engines which will later be adopted to passenger cars.
