3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr

Jan-Jan’s parents file libel cases vs child abuse complainants

This is just something I find bizarre.

Joe and Diana Suan, parents of the six-year-old Jan-Jan Suan, have filed on libel cases before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office earlier Wednesday, April 13, against bloggers John Silva and Froilan Grate, and child psychologist Dr. Lourdes Carandang.

It also says that

According to the complaint-affidavit, Joe and Diana filed a case against Grate for making it appear that Jan-Jan is an “abused child” and that his family allowed Jan-Jan to be abused in exchange for money and fame.

The lawyer said

“Sila po ay naniniwala na walang pang-aabusong nangyari at sila ay di papayag, kahit sila ay mahirap, na maabuso ang kanilang anak ng sinoman. Gusto po nila na matigil ang lahat ng ito... Gusto nilang bumalik sa kanilang pribadong buhay. Ayaw po nila na magamit si Jan-Jan sa agenda ng kung sino-sinong tao,” Pineda said.

He added that the family does not want Jan-Jan to become a “poster child” for child abuse.

“Kung sinasabi po nila na na-child abuse ang anak, maling-mali po sila dun. Ako na po ang makakapagsabi sa inyo, maling-mali sila sa mga sinasabi nila. Tigilan na po nila ang pagsasabi ng ganun dahil napakasakit para sa isang ina na ang anak po nila ay tsina-child abuse. Sila po ang nagchi-child abuse sa anak ko di po nila alam ang totoo,” Diana Suan said.

Ok, let's say it wasn't child abuse. I'm pretty sure the word abuse is too harsh for what happened. How about exploitation? I mean, seriously, whether that video was spliced or not, the mere fact the child was crying while dancing was already hard to watch. It's not like the child was smiling and laughing while he was doing that dance.

They can say all they want that Jan-Jan got scared of Ronnel Balingit that's why he was crying. But come on, if you watched the show, he was only crying when he was dancing. And not just once, every single time he danced, he was in tears!

We can say that Willie Revillame did not abuse the child if, and that's only if he let the child do it once, maybe at most twice. But that is the nature of his show, to humiliate people. But the fact he got the child to do it several times and in the end, even had Jan-Jan do the dance in the middle of a raising stage is complete exploitation and abusive.

You can argue that his director kept playing the song to get Jan-Jan to dance. But he could have told them to stop it at any time. But not, it's Willies nature to make fun of people. That's why he was milking Jan-Jan as much as he can. That's what Pinoy like to watch right? Other people being humiliated?

Frankly, the people who are ultimately responsible for this is Jan-Jan's parents. What parent in their right mind would get their child to do this kind of dance in public? And what? They said it wasn't a "macho dance" but a body wave? BS.

This is the same with parents who let their child do the spaghetti dance and what have you. Other TV stations even had their girls dance in two piece suits.

What has this country come to?
