Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr

BIR's Disgusting Ad Against Doctors

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in its effort to increase tax collection puts out ads and press release identifying sectors of society who they believe are not paying proper taxes. They do this by shaming people and business through these ads.

On their latest ad, they targeted doctors by showing them as burdens to society for not paying their share of taxes. The image is a doctor making over a million Pesos being carried on the shoulder of a lowly teacher making much less but paying full tax.

BIR Ad against Doctors

Based on this ad, the BIR is saying that the doctors and other professionals are the burden to society because they don't pay their taxes.

Apparently, the hundreds and thousands of pesos they spent learning their profession and countless hours of study and upgrading they do every year to save and improve people's lives are worth nothing.

Maybe there is a reason people don't like paying their taxes, because all they see is endless traffic, bad road, bad government and the only people getting rich are the politicians.

Based on this ad, it looks like politicians who sing and dance on stage to cuddle votes and steal the people's money to build their castles are the pious ones. Not even Janet Napoles, the Euro Generals and other people who have been found to have stolen billions of pesos of public money were even considered to be the reason for the lack of funds of the government.

The doctors of course did not take this sitting down, they came out with their own ad which they circulated on social networks.

Ask for Respect BIR

The BIR ad clearly shows how an idiotic government tries to fool the poor by showing that the reason they are still poor and wallowing in misery is because of the middle class who don't pay their taxes.

This ad is dangerous because it creates class warfare pitting the poor against the diminishing middle class. While the upper class, oligarchs and politicians are laughing all the way to their mansions.
