3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr

Nakakahiya

Got this from an e-mail

A couple of days ago, an embarrasing scene was played on tv when a flip general was carried on someone else shoulder so he wouldn't get wet when he stepped on a banka boat.

The American officer on the other hand waded on the water and stepped on the banka without any help. See the symbolism on why the Philippines have problems?

I think the Filipino General should be fired. How could he win the war against the Abu Sayaf? Eh, tubig lang takot na siya. Nakakahiya!!

Lalong nakakahiya doon sa Kano na kasunod niya. he he he he he he he he

BAGONG PEDICURE SIGURO ANG LOKO.

Send this to all your friends and hopefully this will circulate back to the Philippines para mapahiya itong General na ito.

In all fairness to the unnamed Pinoy General in this undated photo... the American also pictured is not an Officer. He is a US Air Force Master Sergeant. The Master Sergeant is wearing an old-style (BDU) uniform. While the wear of the BDU is still authorized in the USAF, most Airmen have switched to the newer ABU (Airman Battle Uniform).

It is hard to truly understand the real context of this photo since we don't have the five Ws and the one H. (Who, What, When, Where, Why, How). What if the General was going to a funeral for a fallen Philippine Soldier or Airman and he wanted to remain sharp for the family? What if this general was not really an active duty Officer, but a member of a Philippine para-military (civilian) organization that's authorized to wear military styled clothing? Is there any way we can get more details before we make a big stink about what we see in this photo?

So... why, as an American Soldier, am I defending a Philippine General? Because of the shared history of the Philippine Rangers and the American Forces during World War Two. We fought together. We bled together. We died together. Want proof? Visit the military cemetery in Taguig. Based on the shared honor and history of the American Fighting Forces and our brave brothers and sisters in the Philippine Military, I believe we should give the Philippine General in this photo the benefit of a doubt before we rush to judgment.

Oops... counting again the stripes on the American Sergeant's sleeve shows he's a TECHNICAL Sergeant, not a MASTER Sergeant as I first stated. Sorry for the confusion.

The photo is from 2002 of Brig.Gen.Marciano Ilagan.

Personally, i dont really care. It is his right to be carried on by someone else shoulders... it doesnt mean he is a coward, weak, gay, or whatever people thinks of him. Come on people, we have different cultures, privileges, etc and its other peoples business. We should be more ashame of ourselves if the man had carried the American soldier rather than the Pinoy General... and besides the picture could tell us so many stories which are mostly made up stories... dun tayo magaling eh... so I think we are the ones who should be ashamed of ourselves cuz we are so reactive to a point that we have already judge a person. lets be real people.. we are so idealist kaya hindi tayo umuunlad. I bet whoever is in his position out of 10 people, mayroon at mayroon magpapakarga I am sure.

Come on Jim, there is no excuse for this General. I personally wouldn't want to be carried like this regardless of where I'm going unless I'm disabled. Staying sharp in this situation is the last thing in my mind.
