3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. Ombudsman Makes It Difficult To Get SALN

Anybody read this article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer? Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez issued a memorandum circular that would make it difficult for people to get copies of the Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth of government officials.

This is the latest move by the Arroyo government to hamper access to information of public concern.

Wow...just wow. So instead of investigating why Mikey Arroyo has an inflated net worth. The Ombudsman instead issues a memorandum so that nobody can look into his SALN anymore. That way, there's nothing to investigate.

No evidence, no investigation, no expose. Nothing for the media or anyone to throw at Mikey to make a fool of himself anymore. Makes sense.

If anybody still doubts that Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez is working for the benefit of the Arroyo family. This confirms it.

It's unconstitutional to issue this kind of memorandum. Unconstitutional because the Constitution recognizes “the right of the people to information on matters of public concern.”

The framers of the 1987 Constitution specifically put that in to prevent any more of the Marcos style corruption. But of course, the Filipino people are known for the ingenuity. Too bad their ingenuuity is used for matters of graft and corruption instead of making the country a better place to live for everyone.
