Amazon Customer Billed for $2.9 Billion CD-ROM Purchase

Brian Klug, a software engineer in California found a curious listing on Amazon for a Discover Channel "Cells" CD-ROM for sale on Amazon for $2,904,980,000. It was being sold by a third party seller called Suburbankbooks. Oh and get this, they charge $3.99 for shipping.

He writes on Reddit that Amazon called him to make sure he received the order cancellation e-mail from them and confirm that everything was OK on his end.

Amazon said that they have software checks to make sure orders with erroneous too-low prices are caught, but they don't have checks for the other extreme. They said they will be implementing changes ASAP.
