President Barack Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.

"I am both surprised and deeply humbled," Obama said from the White House Friday morning.

He said he does not "view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments," but rather as a "call to action" for the United States and other nations tackling global issues.
