3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr

The Camel

A Nun and a Priest were crossing the Sahara desert on a camel. On the third day out, the camel suddenly dropped dead without warning. After dusting themselves off, the Nun and the Priest surveyed their situation. After a long period of silence, the Priest spoke. 'Well,Sister, this looks pretty grim.' 'I know, Father. In fact, I don't think it likely that we can survive more than a day or two.' 'I agree,' says the Father. 'Sister, since we are unlikely to make it out of here alive, would you do something for me?' 'Anything, Father.' 'I have never seen a woman's breasts and I was wondering if I might see yours.' 'Well, under the circumstances I don't see that it would do any harm.' The Nun opened her habit and the Priest enjoyed the sight of her shapely breasts, commenting frequently on their beauty. 'Sister, would you mind if I touched them?' She consented and he fondled them for several minutes. 'Father, co

Manila, Philippines - Then and Now

Looking at these pictures, I can't help but see the huge difference in them. Mainly, the amount of power lines that Meralco has put up all over the place with no regard for aesthetics. :) Also, seeing there's no difference in how Binondo Church looks reminds me of what my grandmother told me that they stopped renovating the front of Binondo church because everytime they did, a war broke out. So they renovate the inside but never the outside anymore. I wonder if it's true.

The Filipino Heroes League

Filipinos are one of the best artist in the world. Most artist does work for companies like Disney, Marvel, DC and Sony. Here's one that I found that looks great. It's called The Filipino Heroes League. The Philippines answer to the Justice League? I found the pedicab and the owner type jeepney to be funny. Very Pinoy! Here is the link to the blog for Komix7107 where I saw this comic.

Crime

Heard from a friend that crimes are starting to go up again. He said that two weeks ago, there was an armed robbery at Peace Hotel in Ongpin. This week, there was an armed carnapping at T. Alonzo where the driver was pushed in and the car was taken with the driver. They seem to be targeting cars like Montero or those worth P1M or more. Also heard that kidnapping might be on the rise again. Be careful out there.

Batibot Returns

The popular Filipino children's show in the 80's aimed at pre-schoolers returns after 22 years. TV5 has been granted the right to air the show. In an interview, Sienna Olaso popularly known as Ate Sienna said, “This is something that today’s youth needs. Socio-cultural values like pagmamano and the use of ‘po’ and ‘opo’ should be taught constantly.” The shows main puppets "Pong Pagong" and "Kiko Matsing" will not be returning due to licensing issues with Sesame Workshop. Other popular characters will be returning like Manang Bola and the show will introduce new characters. This is wonderful news as the new generation of Filipino children really need to learn something better than watching noontime shows. Values is something that should be taught constantly. For those of you who have nostalgia. Here's a video of the opening sequence of Batibot.

The Haircut

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door. Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you , I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a ' thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
