Willie Revillame announced that he will leave his show, Willing Willie for two weeks after the ad pull out by major advertisers after he was criticized for making 6 year old Jan-Jan do a macho dance in exchange for P10,000 cash. He announced that his last show will be Friday, April 8, 2011 in which for the next two weeks, only taped shows will be shown. He will then decide whether he will continue doing the show or not. ABS-CBN says, “No way.” The controversial TV host Monday said in a press conference that he was rescinding his contract with the network, on account of the shabby treatment it was giving him. Revillame complained of what he believed were continued violations of the terms of his contract with the Kapamilya station. The TV host is bound by a contract until September 2011 to the Lopez-owned network. ABS-CBN gave Revillame his biggest break through the daily noontime game show, “Wowowee,” which was recently canceled after more than five years. In a statement released shortly after Revillame’s press conference in a Quezon City restaurant, the network insisted that it was the TV host who violated “behavioral provisions” of the contract when he threatened management during the May 4 episode of “Wowowee.” Threat to resign On that show, Revillame demanded the dismissal of another network ...

ABS-CBN's Showtime was suspended by the MTRCB for 20 days for so called "insults" by Rosanna Roces about teachers. Watch. My question is, is it really an insult or was she just voicing her opinion? From what I saw, she merely mentioned that the student should also do their own work and not just rely on teachers which is true. Since if you are lazy and just rely on the teacher, how do you know what you're being taught is correct? Also, she could have been voicing her opinion about teachers that she's had personal experience with. I'm sure every one of us has experienced dealing with teachers who only "repeat" what the book says. I've had that in college and he was the assistant dean! She was also right about the books since a lot of the books being printed for public schools are full of errors. So my question is, why is the MTRCB suspending the show? Large parts of northern Luzon were flooded and without power Sunday after Typhoon “Pepeng” (international codename Parma) lashed the area, while authorities announced that the typhoon could still continue to pound the area for more than 3 days. Exactly one week after Tropical Storm “Ondoy (international code name Ketsana) dumped the heaviest rains in more than 40 years that devastated Manila, killing nearly 300 people, “Pepeng” ripped through Northern Luzon starting Saturday. Two separate landslides buried homes in the province of Benguet, killing 12 people on Saturday. In the town of Itogon, 7 construction workers were killed, all of whom were relatives. They were reportedly sleeping in a hut when the landslide occurred around midnight. A family of five, including a 10-month-old infant, was also killed in a landslide that occurred in Barangay Beckel in La Trinidad town. More from ABS-CBN News .

Report from ABS-CBN on Typhoon Ondoy.

During the massive flood happening in Metro Manila that was caused by Typhoon Ondoy, there was very little updates on major news organizations like The Philippine Daily Inquirer. I found out about how bad the typhoon was from conversations with my friends through Yahoo Messenger. As I logged on to Facebook, I was getting continuous updates on friend's wall on details of the flood. I checked Inquirer.net and other sites but there was hardly any mention. There were reports of the flood, but there wasn't any photos or videos. As the situation got worst, he was telling me their parking lot is flooded and it's still rising. He had to move his car out to higher ground to save it. I asked him to take some photos because he said that it never floods in Ongpin. I couldn't believe it either since the 20 years I've been there, I've never seen it flood higher than one inch. Here he was telling me it's up to his knees.
