3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem.

This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution?

Punitive Fines
First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law.
The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registration. They cannot renew their d…

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise to Divorce

Not really related to anything about the Philippines. But we all know we love a good gossip.

From Reuters.

(Reuters) - Actress Katie Holmes has filed for divorce from her superstar husband Tom Cruise, ending a six-year marriage that produced one daughter and captivated celebrity watchers worldwide.

Holmes filed papers in New York City on Thursday, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking sole custody of the couple's six-year-old daughter Suri in a move that came "out of the blue" for the "Mission: Impossible" actor, said one source with knowledge of the situation.

The source said Cruise is out of the country filming a movie in Iceland and the filing came as a surprise.

The actor's spokeswoman issued a brief statement, saying: "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out." No further comment was made

Apple iTunes Store To Open In Philippines

Apple will be opening its popular iTunes store in the Philippines by December 2012 according to a report by AppleInsider. It will feature a dedicated section for "Original Pilipino Music" or OPM.

I think this is great news to Filipino artists as they will now be able to sell their music in high quality digital format and hopefully reduce piracy.

It will also provide a venue for people to search and browse new music.

Playboy South Africa brings you a new spot directed by Jason Fialkov at Egg Films. The idea behind the ad is all about reaffirming the impact Playboy has had on popular culture through the decades. This iconic brand has been going since 1953 and has seen many fads, trends and styles come and go but has always kept itself relevant to it's readers by delivering more that just a centerfold.

Miami Heat 2012 NBA Finals Champion

The Miami Heat won the 2012 NBA Finals marking the first championship ring for LeBron James and the second for Dwayne Wade. It was a redemption for LeBron who has been greatly criticized this past season due to his disappearance in the 4th quarter in last season's game against the Dallas Mavericks who won against Miami.

Here are the highlights.

The coach, Erik Spoelstra was also part of the criticism where most people were saying he was too young or inexperienced to coach a championship team.

Erik Spoelstra, 41, is a native of the Philippines and the son of longtime NBA executive Jon Spoelstra.

Is he the first Filipino to ever win an NBA Championship?

WBO: Pacquiao defeated Bradley

From Philstar.

MANILA, Philippines - The World Boxing Organization (WBO) ruled Wednesday that Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao should have won his controversial bout against American fighter Timothy Bradley and recommended a rematch.

Bradley won a split decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on June 9 that prompted disbelief from the sporting world and had many calling the outcome corrupt.

The WBO met with five international judges to evaluate video of the match and they unanimously scored the fight in favor of Pacquiao, though they do not have the power to overturn the initial ruling and the result will stand.

Pacquiao has indicated that he would prefer a rematch to Bradley forfeiting the belt, according to Bob Arum, the promoter for both fighters.

Pacquiao said he will not accept the WBO welterweight crown from Bradley if the American gives it back to him after the five WBO judges who re-scored the controversial fight had the Filipino winning by a mile.

“Kung ibigay naman nina (Bradley…

2008 - Four Naked Women Playing Mahjong

I saw this recently painting on a website recently. It's an oil painting by Liu Yi that was exhibited in New York entitled "Beijing".

The painting caused a lot of speculation. The analysis of it is as follows:

Right in front, the Asian lady with a tattoo on her back is China.

On the left, the lady full of concentration is Japan.

Dressed at the top looking sideways is USA.

Lying rather seductively is Russia.

The little girl standing by the side is Taiwan.

China "tripled" the Dong tiles (East Winds, this is a double up). This means that China has arisen with the circumstances (the winds); maybe that is the display of the "East Wind" missiles she possesses now. It looks like China is doing ok, but there is no clue about the other cards (tiles). Meanwhile she is up to no good under the table.

USA, appearing confident, is looking at Taiwan with an expression; perhaps to read from the look of Taiwan or to send some message.

Russia may appear indifferent but…

WBO to review Pacquiao-Bradley title bout

From USA Today.

LAS VEGAS – One of boxing's major sanctioning bodies will review Timothy Bradley's controversial split decision victory over Manny Pacquiao, the first step toward what promoter Bob Arum hopes will be "clarity" in the judging of the fight.

WBO President Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel said in a statement Wednesday that the WBO's championship committee will review video of the fight with five "recognized international judges" and make a recommendation. He said the WBO does not doubt the ability of the scoring judges.

Most reporters seated ringside and the vast majority of fans inside the MGM Grand arena on Saturday night thought Pacquiao had easily defended his welterweight title against Bradley. The first surprise came when ring announcer Michael Buffer announced that there was a split decision, and the biggest surprise came in the reading of the scores. Jerry Roth had it 115-113 for Pacquiao, while judges Duane Ford and C.J. Ross ha… - Our Blades Are F***ing Great

Humorous Meme On the Pacquiao-Bradley Fight

After the uproar about the result of the Pacquiao - Bradley boxing match, a bunch of Internet Meme came out. Here are some of them.

Bradley-Pacquiao decision leaves boxing reeling

From USA Today.

LAS VEGAS – The outrage over the split-decision upset victory for Timothy Bradley against champion Manny Pacquiao reached a fever pitch Sunday, with many in the boxing world seeking reform in the judging system and promoter Bob Arum calling for an outside investigation.

Arum, the 80-year-old chairman of Top Rank Promotions, represents both fighters.
"This is an international kind of story. There are people all over the world looking to blame somebody for this," he said.
In a decision that sent shock waves through the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Bradley was declared the winner by split decision. Judges CJ Ross and Duane Ford scored it 115-113 for Bradley, while Jerry Roth had it 115-113 for Pacquiao. Ross has limited experience, while Ford and Roth are veterans of big Las Vegas fights.

The decision resulted in boos raining down toward the ring, where HBO's Max Kellerman was trying to interview Pacquiao and Bradley.

Arum says "The conspiracy theory is that…

Manny Pacquiao Lost to Timothy Bradley

From the Inquirer.

Manila – The Philippines was silenced Sunday after boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao was stunned by American challenger Timothy Bradley, losing his first bout in seven years.

From the chaotic slums to the swanky sports bars of Manila, Filipinos looked on in horror as Bradley ended Pacquiao’s 15-fight winning streak and seized his World Boxing Organization welterweight title.

Judge Jerry Roth scored the bout 115-113 for Pacquiao, while C.J. Ross and Duane Ford both saw it 115-113 for Bradley, even though it appeared Pacquiao hurt Bradley throughout the fight — particularly with his straight left hand.

Pacquiao fell to 54-4-2 with 38 wins inside the distance, suffering his first defeat since he dropped a 12-round unanimous decision to Erik Morales in March 2005.

“We were robbed. Everybody saw that Bradley was hit more,” said Raphael Raboy, 37, a laborer who was among hundreds who watched a free live telecast of the bout in the suburban Marikina district.

In Vegas jail, Mayweather won't see Pacquiao fight

From Yahoo! News.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Floyd Mayweather Jr. won't be able to see rival Manny Pacquiao's pay-per-view fight Saturday night against Timothy Bradley, but he will have time to read his mail.

As inmate No. 1363917 at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas, Mayweather doesn't have access to a television, computer or telephone in the small solo jail cell where on Friday he was beginning the second week of a three-month sentence in a domestic violence case.

He has been getting lots of mail since someone posted his inmate number and address on Twitter, Las Vegas police Officer Bill Cassell said.

Jail mail is screened, and Cassell told The Associated Press that some photos to Mayweather have been confiscated as "inappropriate."

"He's gotten some mail and a couple of books. There has been some contraband that has been stopped," Cassell said. He wouldn't describe the photos in detail.

OKC Thunder 2012 Western Conference Finals Champion

It was a battle nobody expected. The Spurs came into the Western Conference Finals with a 20 game winning streak and never lost 2 games in a row. After game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, everybody was saying that the Spurs are too good for OKC Thunder.

But the situation quickly changed as OKC Thunder coach Scott Brooks made defensive changes and put Sefolosha on Tony Parker, effectively slowing him down.

The Thunder, a much younger team was just faster and stronger than the aging Spurs and took a 4 game winning streak to beat the Spurs 4 games to 2 to win the 2012 Western Conference Finals.

What's funny is, Derek Fisher who was traded by the Lakers now has a possibility of winning more championship rings than Kobe Bryant.

This is the first time the OKC Thunder went to the NBA Finals since they changed from the Seattle Supersonics.
