3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr...

Jan-Jan’s parents file libel cases vs child abuse complainants

This is just something I find bizarre. Joe and Diana Suan, parents of the six-year-old Jan-Jan Suan, have filed on libel cases before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office earlier Wednesday, April 13, against bloggers John Silva and Froilan Grate, and child psychologist Dr. Lourdes Carandang. It also says that According to the complaint-affidavit, Joe and Diana filed a case against Grate for making it appear that Jan-Jan is an “abused child” and that his family allowed Jan-Jan to be abused in exchange for money and fame. He added that the family does not want Jan-Jan to become a “poster child” for child abuse. “Kung sinasabi po nila na n...

Willie Revillame Leaves Show After Ad Pullout

Willie Revillame announced that he will leave his show, Willing Willie for two weeks after the ad pull out by major advertisers after he was criticized for making 6 year old Jan-Jan do a macho dance in exchange for P10,000 cash. He announced that his last show will be Friday, April 8, 2011 in which for the next two weeks, only taped shows will be shown. He will then decide whether he will continue doing the show or not. Here's the report from ABS-CBN News .

Advertisers Pull Out from Willing Willie Show

Some advertisers have started to pull their ads with Willing Willie after the Jan-Jan macho dance incident. Mang Inasal, a subsidiary of Jollibee has pulled their ads pending investigation by the network. The Internet community has been calling for boycott of the products of the show's advertisers. There's even a Facebook Page calling to boycott all of Willing Willie's sponsors.

Willie Revillame and Willing Willie DID NOT ABUSE Jan-Jan according to his Parents

Image
Willie Revillame defended his actions on his show saying that he did not know what 6 year old Jan-Jan's talents were. He that he did not abuse the kid and that his staff were the ones who auditioned the kid. He even went on to say that the country has so much problem like the 3 drug mules and corruption, why people would even worry about a little thing like Jan-Jan's dance. He even had Jan-Jan's parents come to the show to explain their side. Of course, with matching sad music. Watch. What are you thoughts?

Thoughts On The Willing Willie Show With 6 Year Old Jan-Jan

I've been thinking a lot about the Willing Willie show where 6 year old Jan-Jan was made to dance like a male stripper. To be honest, I don't expect much from a show with Willie Revillame, all his shows are just about throwing money around degrading people. Fine, if people are willing and able to make a decision themselves to do that, that's fine with me. But subjecting a 6 year old boy with obviously no choice in the matter is a new low. And the fact that the boy was crying while dancing did not even register to anyone on the show that maybe they should put a stop to it? Willie even said that the boy was crying was like the movie "Burlesque Queen" where the star was dancing and crying because she did not have a choice in the matter and will do anything to feed her family. Wasn't that already a queue that maybe it was exploitation? What I find to be truly horrific is the lack of response from the sponsors. These shows do not exist without sponsors. Do these sp...

DSWD Sec. Dinky Soliman writes to MVP Re: Child Abuse in Willieng Willie

March 28, 2011 MR. MANNY V. PANGILINAN Chairman ABC Development Corporation Dear Mr. Pangilinan: This is with regard to the 12 March 2011 episode of your show “Willing Willie”, which was brought to my attention by several concerned citizens and groups. In the said episode, a six year-old boy named Jan-Jan Estrada was made to repeatedly perform dance moves usually done by adult dancers in indecent shows. The poor child was in tears and looked scared the entire time, as show host Willie Revillame poked fun at him and the audience laughed and cheered. Under Republic Act No.7610, also known as “Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act”, the term “child abuse” includes the following acts: “psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment,” and “any act by deeds or words which debases, degrades or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of the child as a human being.” Given that definition, it is unmistakable...
