3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr...

2012 Voting Machines Altering Votes

Could this potentially be vote rigging in today's US Election? I saw this video shot by a voter saying that whenever he pushed Obama on the voting machine, it keeps highlighting Romney. He tried other candidates, but they work fine. Check it out.

Villar: Trouble with hellos

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer . ====================== Sen. Manny Villar called Fe Barin, chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and Francis Lim, then president of the Philippine Stock Exchange, many times sometime between May and June 2007, the Philippine Daily Inquirer has learned. But the calls, according to SEC and PSE lawyers and brokers interviewed by the Inquirer on separate occasions, were “too many to be easily dismissed and forgotten.” They couldn’t forget about the calls either, they said, most especially because Villar, then Senate President, wanted the SEC and PSE officials “to throw the exchange rules out the window.” Villar was seeking the release from escrow of about 1.2 billion of the 5.3 billion secondary shares of Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc. in June 2007 so these could be offered both as primary and secondary shares at the same time, or several days apart. The Senate President not only made the calls, he also appeared before SEC and PSE board meet...

How Manny Villar lied and used the death of his brother Danny

From the Philippine Star . ===================== “Nakaranas na ba kayong ... mamatayan ng kapatid dahil wala kang pera pangpagamot (Have you experienced losing a brother because you did not have the money to provide him proper medical care)? — Manny Villar asked in his “PANATA (Advocacy)” TV commercial. Villar was referring to his younger brother Danny who passed away on October 1962. In the same commercial, Villar’s 1962 photo with his younger brother was shown. This portrayal of being poor once upon a time is a fantasy which comes in a series of similar attempts by Villar to create empathy with the nearly 90% of voters who belong to the socio-economic classes D and E. However, this particular attempt to use his late brother Danny to further his political ambition showed that Villar is as capable of lying just like Madame Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA). Two public documents — the death certificate of Danny B. Villar and the Transfer Certificate of Title (TCT number: 135396/3194) of th...

In The Jungle with Dick Gordon

Nice to see some candidates have a sense of humor.

Aquino, Villar face pastor’s ‘divine wrath’

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer . ====================== DAVAO CITY—The two front-runners in the presidential race Tuesday failed to show up at what had been billed as a major debate, and the wrath of the “Son of God” came down upon them. Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III of the Liberal Party (LP) had excused himself, citing sinus problems, while Nacionalista Party (NP) candidate Sen. Manuel Villar was tied up in a series of meetings, aides said. Six other candidates—former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Senators Richard Gordon and Jamby Madrigal, former President Joseph Estrada, evangelist Eddie Villanueva and environmentalist Nicanor Perlas—attended the presidential forum organized by the group called “Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Name Above Every Name.” The sect is headed by Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, a self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God” who claims millions of followers. No word, no honor For Quiboloy, who still has to decide on whom his group will support on May 10, it’s all...

What Palace would be like if Aquino wins

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer. =================== MANILA, Philippines—Sen. Benigno Aquino III on Friday gave a preview of what Malacañang would be like if he became president—a Palace where his running mate Sen. Manuel Roxas would be an active partner in running the government and “pork barrel” would be shared with friend and foe alike, including President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who’s running for a seat in Congress. To jump-start his antigraft drive, he would pursue a "personal ambition" to catch a smuggler or a corrupt official responsible for a substandard infrastructure project within the first two weeks of his presidency. Interviewed on dzBB radio by news anchor Mike Enriquez, the Liberal Party standard-bearer said his personal goal would be to kick his smoking habit. He also said he had not decided on an altar date with his girlfriend, Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad. (See related story on Page A6.) To his big business supporters, Aquino’s mess...

Teodoro grilled on Arroyo ties

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer . =================== MANILA, Philippines – Gilbert Teodoro found himself in the hot seat at a youth forum Friday when he and other presidential candidates were asked whether they would make President Macapagal-Arroyo accountable for anything anomalous that happened in her administration. At the forum at the De La Salle University (DLSU)-Manila campus, moderator Ted Failon asked the presidential hopefuls: “Is there something for which President Arroyo should be held accountable? How should she be made accountable?” At first, Teodoro, the administration presidential candidate, hesitated to give an answer, saying his previous working relationship with the President bars him from doing so. “Just think about it, if I participate (in efforts to prosecute her), people would say ‘lulutuin mo lang’ (you’ll just fix it.) If I don’t participate, people would say I did not work for justice,” said Teodoro, who resigned as defense secretary to run in the ...

Villar’s leadership

I just got this e-mail. I'm not against Manny Villar or for any of the Presidential candidates. I just found this article interesting and give some people different opinions on the different candidates. Take it how you want. This article came from this the Action for Economic Reform website and was published on January 11, 2010 on Business World , pages S1/4 to S1/5. ===================== Manny Villar is on a roll. The latest survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) shows that he has narrowed the gap between him and Noynoy Aquino, the frontrunner, to 11%. The survey came in the wake of a media blitzkrieg during the holiday season. A friend of mine, an executive in a major television network, conservatively estimates that Villar has spent P2 billion since the third quarter of 2009 for his media campaign. (Other estimates are on the high side, ranging between P3 billion and P4 billion.) should he win, he'll definitely get this back!! another GMA in the making!! ...

Comelec bars gays in House on grounds of ‘immorality’

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer . =============== The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has dismissed a petition of Ang Ladlad, a gay organization seeking congressional representation in the May elections as a party-list group, saying it “tolerates immorality.” In an eight-page resolution dated Nov. 11, the Comelec’s Second Division said Ang Ladlad’s petition “must fail” despite the group’s fulfillment of poll requirements, because the practice of homosexuality offends morals. Homosexuality is also against Christian and Muslim faiths, it said. Citing the teachings of Lehman Strauss, an American Bible teacher, the Comelec said the principles of Ang Ladlad were a threat to young Filipinos. “Should this commission grant the petition, we will be exposing our youth to an environment that does not conform to the teachings of our faith,” the resolution said. “As an agency of the government, ours too is the state’s avowed duty under Section 13, Article II of the Constitution, to protect...

People Are Not Getting Relief Goods

Heard through the grapevine. ========== Those who have also been severely affected - the "working" (employed), as far as I heard are not getting didly squat from their barangays! Most of the relief goods are being distributed to squatters area who would be needing relief goods - with or without Ondoy. Of course mas lalo ngayon - it seems daw na doon lang nakafocus ngayon - IN OTHER WORDS, KUNG HINDI KA CONSIDERED SQUATER KAHIT WALA KANG MAKAIN WALA KANG MAKUKUHA! ========== Hay...politics. Election season na talaga.

Bending Rules for Success Only in RP

I read this article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer about Sen. Mar Roxas doing a town hall meeting. He spoke about the evils of corruption and the importance of sticking to rules in order to get ahead in life—except that in the Philippines, bending the rules is what seems to guarantee success. He was talking about how his grandmother was teaching him how to cook rice when he was young and that to cook good rice, you should follow the rule on how much water to put in. He said that following a set of rules in society should produce similarly good results. “That’s how society develops … If you follow the rules, you’d get ahead in life. But in our country, if you follow the rules, you’re at a disadvantage.” he said. That's funny. So I guess the reason he is doing pre-election campaigning and informercials is because he doesn't want to be at a disadvantage? Sure...he hasn't filed for his candidacy. Sure...he isn't campaigning early, just giving out info for the public. Sur...

Of Hayden Kho and the Philippine Elections

Oh my, here we go again. It's always the same thing in the Philippines. Scandal here, politics there and the elections. As they say, the Filipinos love to talk about PBA, Politics, Basketball at Artista. The elections is coming up in 2010. You're not supposed to be campainging yet, so what do the presidential aspirants do? They set up TV commercial saying how they want to Philippines to be. No, they're not campainging, they're "informing" the public. They haven't official said they're running yet. How else can they get their names in print and in the media? Well, thank God for Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili and their sex video! Can you imagine? The Philippine senate actually investigated their sex video scandal? If I were Hayden, I would be honored to be treated to be that important! Who is Hayden Kho anyway? Some boyfriend of Dr. Vicki Belo, famous for doing plastic surgery for a lot of Filipino artist. Who's Katrina Halili? A sexy actress. That...
