3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr...

Ombudsman Makes It Difficult To Get SALN

Anybody read this article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer? Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez issued a memorandum circular that would make it difficult for people to get copies of the Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth of government officials. This is the latest move by the Arroyo government to hamper access to information of public concern. Wow...just wow. So instead of investigating why Mikey Arroyo has an inflated net worth. The Ombudsman instead issues a memorandum so that nobody can look into his SALN anymore. That way, there's nothing to investigate. No evidence, no investigation, no expose. Nothing for the media or anyone to throw at Mikey to make a fool of himself anymore. Makes sense. If anybody still doubts that Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez is working for the benefit of the Arroyo family. This confirms it. It's unconstitutional to issue this kind of memorandum. Unconstitutional because the Constitution recognizes “the right of the people to informati...

Mikey Arroyo's Media Suicide with Igan and Winnie Monsod

Watch the media suicide of Mikey Arroyo in Unang Balita with Igan and Winnie Monsod. These people are what they call "So young, yet so corrupt". To summarize, in 2003, his net worth is P5 million. In 2005, it went up to $76.9 million. His reason, he was elected governor in 2004 and if one makes mistake in declaring their Statements of Assets and Liabilities (SAL), they can correct it next year. He said that he wasn't used to declaring his SAL. Wow... In 2008, his SAL is now P99 million. But now he also has investments in a house that is not rented out and not making income. What kind of investments is that? He is saying that his lawyer can explain it when his lawyer comes back from abroad. Why are they always abroad? Mikey keeps insisting it is not his house but owned by a corporation. So Winnie asked Mikey if he can disclose the other partners. Mikey said that he can't because they're private citizens. To which Winnie said, "the corporation is registered wit...

Arroyo should keep silent

The people of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo defended her from Fidel Ramos' demand that she come clean and declare her intention for 2010 saying that as much as "Fidel Ramos has the right to give his opinion, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has the right to keep her plans private". Now, I know most people will say this is hogwash, that because Arroyo is the "President" and she is in public office that she has to declare her intentions publicly. I say let her keep silent. Why? What difference would it make if she says anything? We all know she can lie through her teeth anyway. She may declare she's not running next year, but decide to run anyway. Would her declaring anything make any difference? If history was any indication, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will definitely do anything to cling to power. Be it by Con-Ass, Cha-cha, martial law or being the prime minister. She will do any and all things she can legally and illegally to stay in power. There's no surprise there.
