3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr...

Man with Armalite Riding in Tandem

Image
You ever read about the news about how our politicians are trying to stop crimes being by criminals riding on motorcycles? You know, the ones where they say that riding in tandem is going to be banned. And how they also want to ban motorcyclist from wearing helmets so they can't hide their identity. Well...what the hell do you want to call this? This photo was taken along Abad Santos where a man was spotted riding a motorcycle, in tandem, carrying an armalite. I guess they want to make a law banning riding in a motorcycle with an armalite next.

Arnold Clavio's Apology...To Someone

Image
Arnold Clavio apologized on air for his outburst the other day when he spoke with Atty. Alfredo Villamor where he basically lambasted the guy for not knowing any more info about Janet Napoles' case considering Atty. Villamor is only handling Napoles' bail and nothing else. Here is Arnold Clavio's apology to someone, but definitely not to Atty. Alfredo Villamor. The arrogance of media personalities in the Philippines is simply disgusting.

Arnold Clavio's interview with Atty. Alfredo Villamor (Janet Napoles' Lawyer) Unang Hirit November 5, 2013

Watch Arnold Clavio's interview with Janet Napoles' lawyer, Atty. Alfredo Villamor. His comments on air are totally unprofessional and uncalled for. What an asshole.

Woman commits suicide at LRT station

From Philstar . MANILA, Philippines - A woman jumped to her death in front of an approaching train at the Light Rail Transit’s EDSA station in Pasay City yesterday morning. The unidentified victim died on the spot after her head was crushed by the train at around 5:50 a.m. LRT Authority spokesman Hernando Cabrera told ABS-CBN that footage taken by closed-circuit television cameras show the “woman jumped into the tracks right after the platform guard walked by her.” The woman, described to be between the ages of 50 and 60, was wearing jeans and a gray shirt, according to police. She had no other items on her person except an LRT ticket and P29 in coins. The woman’s suicide disrupted operations at the rail line, forcing it to operate only from Roosevelt to the Central Station until around 6:30 a.m., right at the start of the morning rush hour. Cabrera said they were able to resume full rail line operations at the LRT Line 1 at around 9:35 a.m. No suicide watch Cabrera said ...

No To Safe Sex

The battle for the RH Bill in the Philippines is getting stupid. This is one of the many tarpaulins that were attached to the footbridge at EDSA Shrine. Some people are making a parody about the stupid arguments against the RH Bill by making even more stupider arguments. :)

Retailers Ordered To Stop Selling Diablo 3 After CBCP Was Granted TRO By SC

Image
Saw this from So, What's News? MANILA, Philippines — Popular PC role-playing game (RPG) Diablo III, which was released worldwide last Tuesday was ordered to be pulled off shelves and prohibited retailers from selling them after the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) was granted a temporary restraining order (TRO) by the Supreme Court (SC) after the church group found the game to be “too “evil” and “anti-Christian”. This Honorable Court hereby grants the petitioner, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines a temporary restraining order against the selling of the PC game Diablo III, hereby known as the respondent, to the Filipino people, effective immediately until an indefinite time or upon the court’s lifting of the said order. Retailers shall be prohibited from selling, renting the respondent whether physically or through online transactions. Violators who are caught or proven to defy the TRO shall be meted with a punishment (smiting or excommunica...

The Most Stupid Basketball Play Ever

Image
This is the dumbest basketball game I've seen in my life. It's very frustrating to watch but also funny. I wonder if they thought they were playing football. By the way, the final score was 114 to 23. Don't ask me how they scored 23.

Electric Post In The Middle Of The Road

Image
I got a lot of comments about the photos I posted of Old Manila in the 1950's . A lot of peopled loved it and wished we could bring it back. Well, I'm sad to say that I highly doubt we'll ever see Old Manila again. Case in point. Yakal St , a photo by maxor888 on Flickr. Electric Post at Yakal Street , a photo by maxor888 on Flickr. If you're asking "Is that an electric post in the middle of the road?" Yes, that's right. Of all the stupid things people do, they built an electric post in the middle of the road! Don't ask me how you get to the other side of the post with a car. They just build whatever they want, whenever they want. Sadly, that's just the way it is now in the Philippines. So if you're wondering if Manila will ever go back to where it was in the 1950's . Don't bother, it won't.

Asians in the Library - UCLA Girl Going Wild on Asians

Image
Alexandra Wallace posted this video below on Youtube with a 3 minute tirade against Asians. The titled the video "Asians in the library". You know, some people are just plain stupid. If you think the world has a bad view of Americans, she's not exactly doing her part to help clean up that image. Free speech is one thing. But some times, you just have to keep the opinion to yourself. Update: She did post an apology on Monday. She said, "Clearly the original video posted by me was inappropriate. I cannot explain what possessed me to approach the subject as I did, and if I could undo it, I would. I'd like to offer my apology to the entire UCLA campus. For those who cannot find it within them to accept my apology, I understand."

PUP Student Protest

Here's the video showing the PUP Students who smashed chairs and desk protesting the 2000% increase in their tuition. What I'm wondering is, if they are angry of the huge increase in their tuition which is P12/unit going to P200/unit, why would smashing chairs and tables be the answer to that? Wouldn't the school have to replace those and wouldn't it take money to replace those as well? Where would the school get the money? Oh right, from the student's tuition! Dumb asses. There are better ways of protesting than destroying property. Destroying property just lowers your bargaining position. And they call themselves educated. That's the most uneducated way of protesting. I admire that fact that they want to fight against tuition increase. I have no problem with that. But they have to be both reasonable in their demands and how they protest. For P12/unit, what kind of education can you expect? Sure it's government subsidized. But haven't they heard of infl...

Misleading Claims

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer . =================== Last week the Arroyo administration began placing full-page and double-spread colored advertisements touting its achievements in the economy, social development, infrastructure, jobs, agriculture, energy and digital infrastructure. The big ads must be costing taxpayers a considerable amount of money. (A colored double spread costs about P660,000.) Not content with this, Conrado Limcaoco, head of the Philippine Information Agency, urged other government offices to bear part of the burden of placing ads highlighting the “legacy” of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. It is curious that the Arroyo administration is now advertising its claimed achievements in its “last two minutes.” It looks like it is a propaganda effort for Ms Arroyo who is running for representative of the second district of Pampanga, and for the administration’s presidential candidate, Gilberto Teodoro. There is no attempt to conceal the not-so-subliminal...
