3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr...

Why Are People Still Supporing Senator Bong Revilla?

Image
Senator Bong Revilla turned himself in at the Sandiganbayan on Friday amid shrieking fans and supporters. He was waving and smiling to his fans like it was a movie premiere. As his mugshot was taken, he was also seen smiling like it was a pictorial. Photo courtesy of Inquirer.net Prior to that, he was seen wearing a T-shirt with the bible verse "The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: What can man do unto me? - Psalm 118:6". Really? He really thinks that God supports him for stealing millions of funds from the people who are homeless and hungry because of him? Are we to believe that he is innocent that he hasn't stolen a single centavo from the Pork Barrel funds? What appalls me is that even with all the evidence and knowledge that he stole money from the people. These people still support him. Why do Filipinos do this? Is it because he's a movie star? Shouldn't the people be cursing him and spitting at him for ruining their lives? As long as we a...

Pwedeng Nakawin Fund

Image
From Normando Gonzales' Facebook Page Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago: Don’t call it PDAF. Call it PNF. The “Pwedeng Nakawin Fund.” “If I die, it will not be because of my blood pressure but because of my enemies. Billion, hindi million, B as in baboy talaga,” Saying her colleagues were fooling the people, Santiago called on all 5 to take a leave of absence “not as an admission of guilt but as a courtesy to the Filipino public so the process can proceed unhampered.” “Senators are extremely powerful, both with their money and with their influence and contacts in government so we cannot have them investigated by the DOJ because a Cabinet member Leila de Lima, has not even been confirmed by the Commission on Appointments. On that issue, she will be vulnerable,” Santiago told reporters. Santiago called on the 5 senators to speak the truth, saying many Filipinos have a hard time makin...

Senators OK resolution for P1M each from PDAF

I couldn't believe this when I read it. “Be it hereby resolved by the Philippine Senate, to enjoin all senators to allocate at least P1 million from their Priority Development Assistance Fund to aid victims of Ondoy,” according to Senate Resolution 1378 filed by Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Monday. P1 million!?! Multiplied by 24 senators that's only P24 million! Doesn't each senator get P200 million of PDAF each!?! How generous of them...
