3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr...

Makati Police Explains The Dasmarinas Incident and Arrest of 3 Guards

Image
This is the kind of politicians that the Filipino people votes for. I don't know why when their own arrogance is called out, it is automatically labelled politically motivated. What is the political agenda of 3 lowly guards who are just doing their job? The video starts at 10:25 .

3 Dasma Guards Who Stopped Binay Convoy Held and Then Freed

Image
From the I nquirer MANILA, Philippines—Makati Mayor Junjun Binay ordered the arrest of three security guards of a posh subdivision in the city when the guards refused to allow his four-car convoy to pass through a restricted gate close to midnight on Nov. 30, according to a source privy to the incident. The entire incident at the gate of Banyan and McKinley Roads was recorded by the closed-circuit television cameras of North Forbes Park and Dasmariñas Village, the source, who asked not to be identified for fear of reprisal from City Hall, told the Inquirer. Based on a 24-minute video, a copy of which was obtained by the Inquirer, the standoff was witnessed by the mayor’s sister, Sen. Nancy Binay, a passenger of one of the vehicles. The siblings are the children of Vice President Jejomar Binay, a former mayor of Makati who has declared he will run for president in 2016. The mayor came from his sister’s house in Dasmariñas Village when their convoy was not allowed to get past ...

Casiño wants clear definition of 'epal'

Image
You know, sometimes I wonder if these politicians are doing it on purpose or just plain dumb. It's unethical to put your name anywhere! Be it a billboard, tarps, funeral, fiesta, road work, birthdays, etc. It's not your money you're spending, it's the people's money. EPAL means papel or ma-papel or pumapapel. It's a Filipino slang where the syllables are put backwards like sigarilyo becomes yosi. Epal means taking credit for something which a lot of politicians do. It's simple really, if you want to put a politicians name anywhere, the first requirements is that they will have to be dead first. Simple as that.

Finally! A Politician Free Banner for a Government Project

Image
I can't believe I finally found a banner for a government project where the name of a politician is completely missing and is attributed to the people. This banner which was put up announcing the improvement of the drainage and flood control system in Nueva Vizcaya should be the standard as opposed to banners announcing that a certain politician is responsible for the project. No politician is responsible for any government projects. Government projects are all funded by taxpayer money and any politician putting their name on the project should be ashamed of themselves. Here's the banner. Here are some other banners put up by shameless politicians as a way to grab credit. All photos courtesy of Anti-Epal .

Davao Mayor Duterte Punches Sheriff During Demolition of Shanties

Image
The mayor of Davao City Sara Duterte had ordered the demolition of a slum area in the city to be delayed amid clashes between residents and police. When she discovered this order was being disobeyed, she decided to lash out at a court official and sheriff who happened to be at hand. She repeatedly punched the Sheriff of the Davao Regional Trial Court, Abe Andres during the demolition. I guess this makes her really popular with her constituents. But what about the Sheriff who's just doing his job? Poor guy, he can't win. He gets punched in the face, but he can't retaliate because she's a woman and she's the mayor. Whatever he does, he loses. Look at the guys holding the Sheriff, he can't even fight back. No win situation for Abe Andres. He's the bad guy because he's the one supervising the demolition. If he files a complaint in court, he'll lose anyway because you can never win against the mayor. Meanwhile, Mayor Sara Duterte comes out the hero ...

A Letter From A Brave Filipino

Got this from an e-mail. If only... ======================== To all Filipinos Everywhere: I used to think that corruption and criminality in the Philippines were caused by poverty. But recent events tell me this isn't true. It is one thing to see people turn into drug addicts, prostitutes, thieves and murderers because of hunger and poverty, but what excuse do these rich, educated people have that could possibly explain their bizarre behavior? And to think I was always so relieved when petty snatchers got caught and locked away in jail because I never fully realized that the big time thieves were out there, making the laws and running our country. Every night, I come home & see these "honorable" crooks lambast each other on TV , call each one names, look each other in the eye and accuse the other of committing the very same crimes that they themselves are guilty of, is so comical and apalling that I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I have never see...

Our Current Crop of Potential Presidents

Here are the current crop of people we will be electing in May for President A so called "depressed and mentally unstable" individual who's claim to fame is his name. A poor and swam in garbage individual who's now a billionaire. Who's claim is either true or he's a pathological liar. A womanizing, gambling and convicted plunderer. An articulate lawyer who's claim to fame is being in the GMA administration. A crying, hot-headed, people serving, can do attitude person. A man of God who's money came from his flock like every other "spiritual leader". For Vice President we have. A bitchy, revenge seeking, former TV anchor. A no-nonsense administrator who loves pink fences who think he's gwapo. A former actor who hasn't really been heard or seen during the campaign. A mayor who is said to have enhanced the financial capital of the country that used to be a human rights lawyer which hardly any money but who's net worth has jumped to al...

Sen. Richard Gordon

Here's an interesting piece on Sen. Richard Gordon from the Philippine Daily Inquirer . ====================== During a debate on the Manila campus of De La Salle University , Sen. Richard Gordon waves a thin black and white contraption roughly the size of a notebook. “Kindle,” he shouts. “Here’s a little computer where you can put the entire school curriculum, from Grade 1 to high school to college. Every kid in public school should have one because he who reads, leads,” Gordon exclaimed. Gordon talked about providing the country’s 17 million public school students with the Amazon.com product and raising the quality of education in the process. “The government purchases textbooks for public schools. Oftentimes, these books are full of errors. That’s why we have book scams left and right. Why not get a Kindle for every student, download the accurate, factual books needed for the year, do the same every year. So every school year, we just buy new Kindles for the incoming Grade 1,” h...

Villar: Trouble with hellos

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer . ====================== Sen. Manny Villar called Fe Barin, chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and Francis Lim, then president of the Philippine Stock Exchange, many times sometime between May and June 2007, the Philippine Daily Inquirer has learned. But the calls, according to SEC and PSE lawyers and brokers interviewed by the Inquirer on separate occasions, were “too many to be easily dismissed and forgotten.” They couldn’t forget about the calls either, they said, most especially because Villar, then Senate President, wanted the SEC and PSE officials “to throw the exchange rules out the window.” Villar was seeking the release from escrow of about 1.2 billion of the 5.3 billion secondary shares of Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc. in June 2007 so these could be offered both as primary and secondary shares at the same time, or several days apart. The Senate President not only made the calls, he also appeared before SEC and PSE board meet...

How Manny Villar lied and used the death of his brother Danny

From the Philippine Star . ===================== “Nakaranas na ba kayong ... mamatayan ng kapatid dahil wala kang pera pangpagamot (Have you experienced losing a brother because you did not have the money to provide him proper medical care)? — Manny Villar asked in his “PANATA (Advocacy)” TV commercial. Villar was referring to his younger brother Danny who passed away on October 1962. In the same commercial, Villar’s 1962 photo with his younger brother was shown. This portrayal of being poor once upon a time is a fantasy which comes in a series of similar attempts by Villar to create empathy with the nearly 90% of voters who belong to the socio-economic classes D and E. However, this particular attempt to use his late brother Danny to further his political ambition showed that Villar is as capable of lying just like Madame Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA). Two public documents — the death certificate of Danny B. Villar and the Transfer Certificate of Title (TCT number: 135396/3194) of th...

Arroyo allies in Cebu nix Teodoro for Villar

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer. ====================== MANILA, Philippines—While Malacañang was not looking, Nacionalista Party (NP) presidential candidate Sen. Manuel Villar has quietly gained the support of the biggest political party and the most powerful political family in vote-rich Cebu, according to well-placed party sources. Villar met with congressmen and local officials belonging to One Cebu and the Garcia family behind closed doors at Marco Polo Hotel in Cebu City on Wednesday. Although details of the meeting were not disclosed to local journalists, Alvin Garcia, who is seeking to regain the city’s mayoral post, announced an alliance between his party, Kugi Uswag Sugbo (Progress for Cebu) or Kusug, and the NP in a press conference at the same hotel. His position was different from that taken by his cousin, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn “Gwen” Garcia, who founded One Cebu and has expressed support for Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro. The governor sealed President Gl...

Kris won't leave the Buzz, says ABS-CBN needs her for ratings

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer . ====================== LAOAG CITY, Philippines—No, controversial TV host Kris Aquino is not leaving her Sunday gossip show "The Buzz" on ABS-CBN, saying the network needs her for the ratings. Aquino made the statement in an interview with some reporters here on Thursday. "No. No, no," she said when asked if she would leave the program after she complained last week that she was being used to attack her brother, Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III. "Actually, if you review carefully what I said, sinabi ko sinabihan ako ng sisters ko na walang quitter sa pamilya. So klaro naman ‘yon. So I will be there on Sunday," she said. Asked if she would take a leave from her other television shows aside from her late night show "SNN" also on ABS-CBN, Kris answered in the negative. "Alam mo masyado ka namang excited na mawala ako. Kawawa naman ang ABS-CBN, kailangan pa rin naman ako for the ratings," she...
