3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr...

Jeremy Lin - Knicks vs Sixers March 21, 2012

Image
The New York Knicks' revival under coach Mike Woodson is turning the Atlantic Division into a three-team race. The Philadelphia 76ers would prefer to keep that from happening. The Knicks look to cut further into the 76ers' lead atop the Atlantic when the rivals meet for the final time this season Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center. New York (22-24) seemed to be fading as recently as a week ago, when a six-game skid dropped the club seven games behind Philadelphia and 4 1/2 back of second-place Boston, prompting coach Mike D'Antoni's resignation. With Woodson at the helm, the Knicks have since won four in a row by an average of 22.5 points including Tuesday's 106-87 home victory over Toronto. Suddenly, New York is within four games of the Sixers and 2 1/2 of the Celtics. Knicks win 82-79. Watch highlights and other videos at The Hoop Diaries .

Jeremy Lin - Knicks vs Raptors March 20, 2012

From NBA.com Linsanity had nearly reached its peak when Jeremy Lin hit a game-winning 3-pointer to defeat the Toronto Raptors last month. While the hoopla surrounding Lin has since cooled a bit, interim coach Mike Woodson is starting to create a buzz of his own. After New York's brutal losing stretch, Woodson seems to have the Knicks back on track and will look to stay undefeated when the Raptors visit Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night. Mike D'Antoni resigned two days after the Knicks (21-24) suffered their sixth straight defeat March 12. A change at the top seems to have a made a world of difference for New York, which finds itself 3-0 under Woodson. After blowing out Portland 121-79 in Woodson's first game Wednesday, the Knicks completed a home-and-home sweep of Indiana with Saturday's 102-88 road win. The New York Knicks are playing with renewed vigor under Mike Woodson. Their defense has been top notched today against the Toronto Raptors. Carmelo An...

Jeremy Lin’s Star Not Fading Off Court

From MarketWatch . Knicks guard’s jersey is NBA’s top seller since February NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — For his aunt’s first-ever New York Knicks game last Wednesday, Antonio Yu shelled out $560 for a pair of tickets, and, to be certain they were appropriately dressed for the occasion, he paid $250 apiece for two officially licensed Jeremy Lin jerseys. While the atmosphere of “Linsanity” surrounding the point-guard phenom may have died down somewhat on the hardwood, on the commercial side there still appears to be plenty of passion. During Wednesday night’s win over the Portland Trail Blazers at Madison Square Garden, which snapped a six-game Knicks losing streak, many fans were donned No. 17 jerseys and T-shirts, some of them waving posters saying “Lincredible” and “Bal-Lin’.” Lin merchandise dominated the Knicks concession stands and featured prominently in in-store displays. Since Lin’s Feb. 4 breakout game, sales at online Knicks-linked stores — which carry about 50 Lin-rela...

In a stunning turn of events, Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni resigned today shocking both his bosses and the players. Mike Woodson has been placed as Interim Head Coach. The Knicks finally worked together using Coach D'Antoni's offensive system. Mike Woodson has experience trying to turn around a struggling team when he spent six years in Atlanta. The Knicks won 121-79. Jeremy Lin finished with 6 points, 6 assist and 6 turnovers. Anthony finished with 16 points, Stoudemire with 17 points while J.R. Smith finished with 23 and Novak with 20. They finally used Mike Bibby on the rotation as guard and everyone on the Knicks team got to play. No-fun Knicks struggle against Sixers, fall to 0-5 in March

From CBSSports.com NEW YORK -- After another loss by the no-fun Knicks, the one voice that mattered the most resonated in the locker room. How far it carries will determine whether the Knicks make the playoffs or undergo an even more extensive transformation than the building in which they play in. That is, if you can call this playing. Amar'e Stoudemire stood at his locker and correctly diagnosed the problems with a team that can't get out of its own way with three superstars on the floor. Which is why coach Mike D'Antoni, hearing the first fire-the-coach chants since Isiah Thomas was roaming the Garden, chose to finish the game with two of those stars and their nearly $37 million in salaries sitting on the bench. These are dark days for the Knicks, who hit a point of no return Sunday with a listless 106-94 loss to the 76ers, whom they treated like a pickup opponent at the YMCA rather than the likely winner of the Atlantic Division. "I think we could've ...

Jeremy Lin - Knicks vs Bucks - March 9, 2012

Image
The 4th straight loss for the Knicks. The Bucks winning 119-114. Jeremy Lin ended with 20 points, 13 assist, 4 steals and 5 turnovers. Carmelo Anthony finished with 22 points and Stoudermire finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds. For the Bucks, Ilyasova finished with 26 points, Jennings and Dunlevy finished with 25 points each and 10 assist for Jennings. It was a close game, but the Knicks failed to win again. Looks to me like Mike D'antoni needs to do some adjustment and work on their defense. The problem with D'antoni's fast break system is that it makes for great offense and exciting plays, but very weak in defense. The Phoenix Suns had the same problem when Mike D'antoni was the coach. Here are the highlights of the game. Here's the full game. Here's the post game interview.

Good Feelings Flee Knicks Against Resilient Mavs

DALLAS — On a night of happy homecomings and warm sentiments, the Knicks’ final expression was a scowl, a mixture of frustration, disappointment and confusion. Tyson Chandler got his championship ring, Amar’e Stoudemire found his stride and the Knicks staged a spectacular fourth-quarter rally Tuesday night against the Dallas Mavericks. But the night ended with another loss, 95-85, and renewed concerns about the Knicks’ esprit de corps — and specifically about the mental state of their franchise star. Carmelo Anthony appeared disengaged for most of the night, shot poorly (2 for 12) and came up empty when he returned for the final four minutes of the game after the Knicks’ bench got them back in the game. He finished with 6 points. Afterward, Anthony left without speaking to reporters, saying, “Not tonight” as he moved quickly down an arena hallway. He was on the bus for 10 minutes before returning to speak with a handful of reporters, apparently after being summoned. He spoke brie...
