3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr...

Filipino Values Through TV Commercials

Image
In 1986, the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) ran a series of ads about values. I remember them strongly as it shaped how I viewed Filipino values. Unfortunately, nobody seems to be following these values today especially in our crop of politicians. I recently got into a conversation with some friends on how our society no longer have these values but have moved to a mendicant and entitled society especially among the poor. It's sad to see the deterioration of the strong Filipino values I used to see when I was younger and I do not know if they teach these values to our kids now. If we are to change our future, it has to start with us and we should pass it on to our children.

Arnold Clavio's Apology...To Someone

Image
Arnold Clavio apologized on air for his outburst the other day when he spoke with Atty. Alfredo Villamor where he basically lambasted the guy for not knowing any more info about Janet Napoles' case considering Atty. Villamor is only handling Napoles' bail and nothing else. Here is Arnold Clavio's apology to someone, but definitely not to Atty. Alfredo Villamor. The arrogance of media personalities in the Philippines is simply disgusting.

Wok with Yan is a very popular cooking show in the 1980s. I used to watch this show all the time with my Mom. The show was first produced in  Vancouver ,  British Columbia ,  Canada  by the  CBC  at  CBUT  from 1980 to 1982. A second edition of the show was also produced in the early 1990s. This fast-paced cartooning variety show features comic strips, cartoon portraits, animal drawings, and spinning the Wheel of Features, which can create over 100,000 cartoon faces. Bruce Blitz also welcomes celebrity guest cartoonists to his studio, and takes viewers on fascinating trips like the Museum of Cartoon Art and Busch Gardens. Another big draw for audiences of all ages is the "Doodle Trick" segment where Bruce shows viewers how to take simple shapes, numbers, letters, even words and turn them into wacky cartoons. I love watching this show when I was a kid, trying to learn how to draw. Never really got good at it though. Of all the shows I've seen, this drawing Popeye is the one I remember most.

Green Screen Technology

Image
Ever wonder how your favorite TV shows can afford to shoot on locations all around the world? Do they look for a place nearby that looks similar to where they want to shoot? For example, Downtown Toronto looks similar to New York, but it's cheaper to shoot there than in New York so some TV shows that are set in New York actually shoot in Toronto. For example, the TV show X Files if any of you remember was shot entirely in Vancouver, Canada and around Vancouver even though the scenes where supposed to be all over the United States. However, TV shows now shoots are set at all around the world specially action or spy series like "24". So how can they afford to shoot on location and still keep the series schedule? Well, the answer is, they shoot a lot of green screen. I found this video showing how they use it on your favorite shows. It's really interesting to learn.
