3 Cost Effective Ways to Solve Metro Manila's Traffic Problem

Image
The Facebook page of ANC 24/7 is asking for its reader's suggestion on how to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem. This got me thinking, "what is the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem?" It's easy to make suggestions, what's hard is the implementation and the cost of implementation. So what is the the best way to solve Metro Manila's traffic problem and the most cost effective solution? Punitive Fines Add caption First of all, any implementation will definitely cost money, a lot of money. The cause of the traffic mess is the people themselves so it's only right that those causing the traffic problem should be fined and the fine should hurt. That way, the fines will pay for the cost of enforcing the law. The fines should start at P500 and goes up every week if you don't pay it within 15 days. To enforce this and prevent people from ignoring the fine. It will be tied to their driver's license or car registr...

Miami Heat 2012 NBA Finals Champion

Image
The Miami Heat won the 2012 NBA Finals marking the first championship ring for LeBron James and the second for Dwayne Wade. It was a redemption for LeBron who has been greatly criticized this past season due to his disappearance in the 4th quarter in last season's game against the Dallas Mavericks who won against Miami. Here are the highlights. The coach, Erik Spoelstra was also part of the criticism where most people were saying he was too young or inexperienced to coach a championship team. Erik Spoelstra, 41, is a native of the Philippines and the son of longtime NBA executive Jon Spoelstra. Is he the first Filipino to ever win an NBA Championship?

OKC Thunder 2012 Western Conference Finals Champion

Image
It was a battle nobody expected. The Spurs came into the Western Conference Finals with a 20 game winning streak and never lost 2 games in a row. After game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, everybody was saying that the Spurs are too good for OKC Thunder. But the situation quickly changed as OKC Thunder coach Scott Brooks made defensive changes and put Sefolosha on Tony Parker, effectively slowing him down. The Thunder, a much younger team was just faster and stronger than the aging Spurs and took a 4 game winning streak to beat the Spurs 4 games to 2 to win the 2012 Western Conference Finals. What's funny is, Derek Fisher who was traded by the Lakers now has a possibility of winning more championship rings than Kobe Bryant. This is the first time the OKC Thunder went to the NBA Finals since they changed from the Seattle Supersonics. Here's the full highlight of game 6 between the Spurs and Thunder. Here's the award ceremony for the Western Conference Finals ...

Jeremy Lin - Knicks vs Sixers March 21, 2012

Image
The New York Knicks' revival under coach Mike Woodson is turning the Atlantic Division into a three-team race. The Philadelphia 76ers would prefer to keep that from happening. The Knicks look to cut further into the 76ers' lead atop the Atlantic when the rivals meet for the final time this season Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center. New York (22-24) seemed to be fading as recently as a week ago, when a six-game skid dropped the club seven games behind Philadelphia and 4 1/2 back of second-place Boston, prompting coach Mike D'Antoni's resignation. With Woodson at the helm, the Knicks have since won four in a row by an average of 22.5 points including Tuesday's 106-87 home victory over Toronto. Suddenly, New York is within four games of the Sixers and 2 1/2 of the Celtics. Knicks win 82-79. Watch highlights and other videos at The Hoop Diaries .

Jeremy Lin - Knicks vs Raptors March 20, 2012

Image
From NBA.com Linsanity had nearly reached its peak when Jeremy Lin hit a game-winning 3-pointer to defeat the Toronto Raptors last month. While the hoopla surrounding Lin has since cooled a bit, interim coach Mike Woodson is starting to create a buzz of his own. After New York's brutal losing stretch, Woodson seems to have the Knicks back on track and will look to stay undefeated when the Raptors visit Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night. Mike D'Antoni resigned two days after the Knicks (21-24) suffered their sixth straight defeat March 12. A change at the top seems to have a made a world of difference for New York, which finds itself 3-0 under Woodson. After blowing out Portland 121-79 in Woodson's first game Wednesday, the Knicks completed a home-and-home sweep of Indiana with Saturday's 102-88 road win. Anthony unhappy with Knicks coach: source

CHICAGO — As the NBA trade deadline approaches Thursday, the relationship between Mike D’Antoni and Carmelo Anthony appears to be deteriorating. There are several indications the alliance is getting worse, not better, and it seems inconceivable both will be back with the Knicks next season. According to a source familiar with the situation, Anthony is disgruntled and he may have given off those signs when he didn’t join the huddle during a third-quarter timeout. (Anthony claimed that occurs often). Anything bold happening at the trade deadline would seem unlikely. D’Antoni is more likely to get fired than Anthony get traded after the Knicks dropped their sixth straight game, 104-99, to the Bulls. Anthony, who was benched the entire fourth quarter Sunday and didn’t seem happy about it afterward, finished with 21 points but took 21 shots to get there. The Knicks are 2-8 since Anthony returned from injury and D’Antoni continues to stress running the club through Jeremy Lin and not...

No-fun Knicks struggle against Sixers, fall to 0-5 in March

From CBSSports.com NEW YORK -- After another loss by the no-fun Knicks, the one voice that mattered the most resonated in the locker room. How far it carries will determine whether the Knicks make the playoffs or undergo an even more extensive transformation than the building in which they play in. That is, if you can call this playing. Amar'e Stoudemire stood at his locker and correctly diagnosed the problems with a team that can't get out of its own way with three superstars on the floor. Which is why coach Mike D'Antoni, hearing the first fire-the-coach chants since Isiah Thomas was roaming the Garden, chose to finish the game with two of those stars and their nearly $37 million in salaries sitting on the bench. These are dark days for the Knicks, who hit a point of no return Sunday with a listless 106-94 loss to the 76ers, whom they treated like a pickup opponent at the YMCA rather than the likely winner of the Atlantic Division. "I think we could've ...
