The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) index for 2009 showed Norway to be the best place to live.

Norway is followed by Australia, Iceland, Canada and Ireland for second, third, fourth and fifth place. The United States is number 13.

The Philippines is number 105 behind Thailand, Iran, China, Tonga, Jamaica and Algeria.
