Pacquiao to battle Mayweather–in court

LAS VEGAS, Nevada—Two of boxing’s biggest stars—Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten US boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight, after all.

But they will have their gloves off and the fight will be in court.

US District Judge Larry Hicks on Monday set the stage for the legal joust when he denied a motion by Mayweather to dismiss a defamation suit filed against him and others by boxing’s pound-for-pound king.

Hicks ruled the defamation suit can proceed because there is sufficient evidence of malicious acts in accusing Pacquiao of being a dope cheat.
